Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

My daughter left Nov 28th.  Finally can talk to people without crying the whole time.  It's the unknown. Hated receiving "the box" but I looked at it as the birth of a sailor.  Sending hugs and prayers to all you Moms.

Got the letter today.  Not sure exactly when it arrived.  I don’t check the mailbox too frequently. That was DD’s job. :) Fortunately for this site I was able to see that others had received their letters, so I was sure to check the mailbox after work today.  Now i’m composing my first letter and will get it in the mail tomorrow.  Think I may add one of the fun questionnaires from this site too.

My daughter in law got the form letter from my son today. He went to bootcamp 11/21. Funny when he left he said he did not want letters but at the top of the form letter in all caps and underlined was "WRITE ME LETTERS OFTEN". My what 2 weeks in boot does to change things!

Good Morning Ladies Glad to see you all are doing fine.

Kami I know how you feel about the work thing, I was a mess at work, every time they asked about my son I just started crying. Ladies do know it does get better with time, The Not Knowing part is the hardest, at least for me it was. But I found so many sites to read and it made it easier for me to know what he was enduring and I knew I had to be strong for him because I knew somewhere down the line he was going to be second guessing as to why he chose to do this. BC is very hard but they have to be, They need to see who will be able to make it if there was ever a situation.

For those whose Loved ones are going to be leaving keep your phones close and answer every call even though you aren't familiar with the area codes. My son happen to borrow another's phone when I got the scripted call.

Have a Great Day Ladies.

Hi, everyone! I got a phone call from my husband today! (He arrived at boot camp 11/21) He said that today they were working on insurance forms and they found out it's our first year wedding anniversary today, which is why they let him call me. Make sure you keep your phones close, he said they MIGHT get to call home if they're good or lucky. I'm the type that doesn't pick up the phone from numbers I don't know. If you're also the same I wanted to mention that the call came in from "Waukegen, IL" with a 874 area code. (It may or may not be the same for everyone) He also mentioned that they will get to mail out their letters next Sunday.

I hope you all are doing well and hanging in there.

My daughter left yesterday. Got my scripted call at 1135 last night. I’m excited and nervous all at the same time. Now I just wait for what’s next. The box the information packet...then hopefully letters and phone calls. I just keep praying she gets through the first 48 hours. I’m so glad to have this place where I can go through this with others who are going through it at the same time. And the ones with guidance that have already lived it!

Shacha & tammyteachermom - My DD arrived 11/22, I’ve been following the RTC page on FB and they posted a few pictures after the holiday.  Not sure if there were any newbies but there were a couple of crowd shots.  Search “U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command” on FB

Mine got there on 11/21, too! I'd love to see a video...
