Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

My son is waiting for a 6:30 flight from Harrisburg to GL...Very emotional, proud day. I'm really glad my husband was able to be there with me. Also waiting by the phone for the "call". Hang in there everyone!

zachsmom. I believe my son was scheduled to leave this afternoon as well from. I am just as proud. I hope we both get our calls.
Kathy, God Luck to you and your son.

My son is boarding the plane at 2:10 ET today. I just spoke to him a few minutes ago and he seemed very upbeat and ready to get going! I guess now I will just wait for the "I got here" phone call. I didn't even think to send a phone card with him so I guess I will just include one in my first letter. I guess I am a little more emotional today than yesterday when he left for MEPS because this is the "real" thing. I can't imagine how I could ever be more proud of him than I am right now!

Received the final call at 10:10 last night from boot camp. I hope since it was only 9:10 their time, they were able to get to bed last night instead of waiting until tonight. Now the long wait for the first letter. Thinking of all of you.

Today my son is flying To Great Lakes...all that is left is the weigh in and whatever else they do before they board the plane. He has been working out and has gained some weight so he is wondering whether that puts him over the weight limitations (now I'm nervous). He is in Oahu in a hotel room; I am in California and it is 0541 talking to you all. This is his opportunity for career. I am so happy for him. This is their job growing up and making their own way. I have no tears only pride. Until that plane lifts up into the air with him in it I will be holding my breath. I'm praying that all his goals will come to fruition in the Navy life that he wants so badly. To not be on that plane would be the heartache.

My grandson got to GL on Nov 9th. So far I've been suprised, "The Box" arrived two days later and yesterday we got the form letter with his PIR date 1/14/11. Seems like things are moving quickly, thought we'd have to wait longer for his address. Praying all the guys do well and sooooooo looking forward to PIR.

I know how you felt, Tamme. It was so hard to let go this morning.

My son also left yesterday and is at MEPS today from Columbia, SC. I thought it would be easier the second time, but it wasn't. I was so depressed all day and so thank God that I could be back at work today. I think Willie is ready though. It doesn't help he is the last one to cause an empty nest. We went to Mass together before taking him and sat with his arm around me. I didn't want it to end. Keeping all of you on my mind and in my prayers.

Hi, I will keep all these boys in my prayers each day. I am so proud of him as I know you are of your children, young men and women. He is so excited, that I can't help but be excited too. MEPS on Tuesday, a new life begins. Have a good night moms.
