Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Ellen- My son is Corey as well and also left yesterday for GL. My Corey is going for MM and will stay in GL after bootcamp for a few months then go on to Groton also. Hope they meet up with each other. Monday and Tuesday were rough days, today is a little better. My prayers for your adjustment .

Corey left yesterday. Got the call from him last night, he sounded great !. I on the other hand am not doing well. A big adjustment for me not seeing him day to day. I know this shall pass and get easier each day.

SC7202, that is quick notice. Order the book "Honor, Courage and Commitment" and "When the Eagle Lands in the Nest" from Amazon. Terrific information, and believe me, this site is a Godsend. You will learn so much and just being able to share our feelings helps so much.

I get what you said about the groceries rickysmom, miss those giant sneakers laying on the floor. Was so hard to see all those kids at MEPS yesterday, they look like babies to me. We stayed till the last minute possible when they boarded the vans for the airport for GL. Things will probably go faster for us (MAYBE) because the holidays are in between, graduation day is what we must look forward to now. We'll hang in there together.

siouxpermom- I know what you are going thru- my son left one week ago today. I cried going down the aisle at the grocery seeing his favorite foods. It gets easier everyday. Call your son's recruiter to get his address they have access to it. I have already sent my son a letter a day, I started when I got home from dropping him off. I got my "kid in a box" today and didn't cry as much as I thought I would. Keep coming back here. All these wonderful moms have helped me - we all know the feelings we are experiencing. HUGS to you

I'll be going through it in one week, as well. Hang in there gmaof6!

Ellen, that would be neat if he gets to meet both in both places! GMAof6, there is nothing harder than what you did today. I'm dreading doing it again this Sunday. I started writing right away and then addressed the envelopes later. His adress will be assigned by the end of this week but you won't get the letter with the address until next week. Call the recruiter this Friday and he will have the address then, if not, at least by Monday. My son said it felt so great to receive over 15 letters the first day they were allowed mail. Yes, I was excessive - I wrote every night. I dated the envelope on the outside back flap so he could read them in order. I keep reminding my other son who leaves this Sunday to write as often as he can. He told me he will write during Mass if he has too. He said also he had "girls" to write as well. I told him they better not be before Mom. LOL

WE are there for you, gmaof6. Hang in there...will be feeling the same, I'm sure a week from now!

CS is at Great Lakes, as well. He will be there first, then probably Groton. Would be neat if he got to know both your boys!

Just got back from MEPS, saw my grandson off. Thought that I would be a mess, but my husband was really bad. Will miss him so much. Will look forward to graduation and pray that all goes well.
