Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Thank you Tamme! My son is going in as an Aircrew-man. He will be doing A school in Pensacola. That's all I know for now. He was originally scheduled to go to bootcamp in June 2011, but they called him up early. So this was a bit of a shock, but it's time for him to start his own life. I just hope I can scratch enough funds togethter to go to PIR, I'd hate to miss it. Lordy, the airfare and hotel are expensive. But, I understand that they sell DVD's of the PIR. I will buy those along with his pictures no matter what.

Welcome, Gina. My son leaves on November 15 so they will have a good chance of being together in the same division. What job is he going in for? This is our second time. Our son in the picture graduated from boot in September 2009 and this is now his twin who decided to go in as an EM. Believe me - this site and the mothers you will communicate with will be so much help. I couldn't read enough. It is hard in this day and time not to be able to talk to them on the phone. I wrote a letter every day to keep him receiving mail. I will be doing the same this time. It helped end each day. You will be so proud when you see your son at PIR.

Hello to everyone! My son is leaving for Great Lakes on Nov. 16, 2010. I would love to hear from others whom has a loved one leaving this Nov. I'm hopeful, nervous, excited and sad all at the same time.

I bought "Honor, Courage and Commitment" for my husband to read since he isn't on line like I am. It really does help to know a little bit about what they are going through at boot.

Tamme, thanks for the info. We live in Mass. so Groton is only 2 hours from home. If he goes right after graduation that would bring him closer to us . I have been reading "Honor, Courage, Commitment" which makes me feel a little better about boot camp. It will be the first time he has not been home for the holidays. That will be difficult. He was at college in Conn. but this is going to be way different!! I am also worried about traveling to Chicago in January. It could be bad on both ends. Let's keep our fingers crossed!!

My son leaves November 15 from Charleston so there will be a good chance they can maybe be in the same division. This is my second time to have a son going to boot camp (the one in this picture graduated 9/11/09 and is stationed in Groton as a Corpsman. You will find so much support and information on this site. Special packages are not allowed but mail will definitely be delivered. Always remember to not put anything on the outside of the envelope and stick with white only. This will be a tough one with all the holidays hitting. Supposedly the holidays will not delay graduation. I am worried about the weather for travel though in January into Chicago. On the question about if he'll have a break after boot - no. He could even have to leave the day of graduation. You will see that referred to as a "grad and go." Unfortunately, you will not know that until very close to graduation.

Hi, I am new to this group. My son was sworn in last week and leaves for boot camp on Nov. 14. Do the holidays extend the time it takes them to complete boot camp? I know we can mail letters but will we be able to send something special at Christmas? He will be going to Groton for sub school after boot camp but how do you find out when they will leave for that? Is it right away or is there a break in between? Any info would be helpful, Thanks so much!

Does anyone know if graduations are held only on weekends, or if they do them during weekdays as well?
