Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

Hey Lisa Ann, I felt the same way last week. Hiding tears to be strong for him. It was difficult. I saw your post while at church(oops I was listening). Our pastor was preaching about us all being in this together, Allies a military term. We need to pick each other up. I prayed for you and all the moms/dads feeling heartbreak as your loved one is transformed from a civilian to a US Navy sailor. God Bless!

To all of you whose son's are leaving for bc or are there now and over the holidays, I just want to encourage you that they are doing a good thing that will bring them self respect. They know they have to be tough. We moms have to be as well. Our son left a year ago and we've seen him through bc,  A school, C school and though we will miss him at Thanksgiving and Christmas, I know he has friends there on base. We have another son who was a Marine sniper and his bc was 13 weeks and over the holidays as well. We saw him 2 deployments over the holidays. I don't want to minimize the heartache we feel . It's real. Hang in there, it will get easier. God bless.

Lisa Ann, sorry you're going through two tough things at once.  My son left last Wednesday and I thought I was going to fall apart. But I did ok!  I'm trying to remind myself of the end result.  I'm not thinking about what he's going through each day. Hang in there and enjoy these final few days. 8 weeks will go by fast.

It is real. He leaves Wednesday. I can’t believe how emotional I am. I went through this ten years ago and don’t remember being this upset. I am hiding it from him but I’m so close to losing it. I did just have rotator cuff surgery on Tuesday.  I am in so much pain and might be extra emotional bc of this. I need strength right now and prayers. I will save my breakdown for thanksgiving.

FINALLY got "THE BOX" today!! I've never been so excited to receive a box of dirty clothes!!  Anything from my baby is good at this point!  He's been at boot camp for one week now.  I swear time is going sooooooo slowly!! I feel like he's been gone a month!!

Jeanette, You are very welcome.

Perhaps you can start a discussion in the General Discussion Forum and ask.

Has anyone sponsored an Adopt a Sailor from NJ. Since I can not have my son,I would love to sponsor another son/daughter for the holidays.I live about 50 minutes from a base and would not want the distance to inconvenience anyone.Maybe another discussion group would be better to ask? Thank you for any information.

lemonelephant your help is a blessing. Thank you so very much. My husband and I read and are told conflicting things because of the holidays involved in the dates. We never had an explanation. I know we have to wait for the letter, but having dates to pray for helps.

Jeanettefy, By counting 9 Fridays, PIR will most likely be 01/11/2019 for those who shipped on 11/13/2018. It could be 01/04/2019 for some if they are in a Push Division and were placed in one of the last divisions from last week. It is possible for some who arrive on the same date to have PIR a week apart. Wait on The Form Letter, which now takes 9 to 14 business days after the recruit's arrival at RTC to come, to know the PIR date for sure. Arrival and What Happens at RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will let you know what is happening and what to expect.

If your recruit ends up in the 01/04/2019 TG, then he will be eligible for the Christmas Adopt-A-Sailor program, but if he is in the 01/11/2019 TG, then he will enjoy holiday routine at RTC and a nice meal at RTC and some down time. If he is eligible for the Christmas Adopt-A-Sailor program, then he will send you info on that and a form that must be returned.

Received the box today with all of her belongings/phone. Miss her very much but so proud of her. 7 weeks left until I see her at graduation.
