Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!
If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)
Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)
Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones) Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.
***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.
Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.
The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.
After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc.Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

My son's box arrived today. Now to wait for his letter. My daughter is helping to keep me preoccupied with a huge project: The changing of the rooms. She is moving into brothers big room and her old room will be my new craft/sewing/guest room. Since company is coming for Thanksgiving I've only had 1 day to "cry", the day he left. After packing up all his belonging, we just finished painting the walls and the furniture. I must admit the room never looked better or bigger but all existence of my son's young life are now gone. Its Bittersweet. I haven't had much time to think about anything else but this project, I guess that's a good thing. I'll open his box another day, just not today.

For anyone whose son/daughter or significant other that left on Nov. 16, I received my boyfriends form letter and his division's PIR is JAN. 8

Thank you Robbin...I appreciate your response. It is very difficult for me because he is my first born and as a single mom it is proving very difficult for me to let go and to stop worrying. In 18 years I have never went a day without talking to him. At least I have my 6 year old son to help keep me busy so I don't just sit here and worry all day :-) I am definitely trying to be strong! Thanks again!

That is exactly true...my son is 21 years old and no matter his age he will always be my baby...we had that talk before he left...this is the best thing for him right now and we are incredibly proud of him...my husband and I were both on the Navy...we told him this would be the biggest adjustment for him but after boot camp he will grow to love it!! It was the best experience of my life!!

Thank you Handsomesailor0122...its funny the first thing my son texted my husband after he left MEPS for O'Hare Airport was..."Dad is Mom okay?" My husband said, he needs to know you are okay, that you aren't going to wither away and blow away like a dust bunny...and he was right...our kids need to know that we will keep going, even if, we feel like we lost a piece of our hearts...we have to be strong for them...

Marquisme...try not to get too ahead of yourself. He is fine...he CANNOT get in any trouble, the kind we mom's worry about, at Boot Camp. The box is coming. I live up here in Chicago, I to got mine on Friday...he left Wednesday. You will get it this week. I know the waiting is excruciating, but we will all get through this. My son is my first the leave the nest. I could get myself all wrapped around the axel but I am praying EVERY night that God holds me up to function at work and at home for my husband and other children. Is your son strong? Of course he is, YOU made him strong! Lick your wounds, go fetal for a few hours in bed, but then tell yourself...he would want me to be happy, proud and to carry on! Knowing that we are okay weighs heavily on their minds, too!

My son left on the 17th...we got his address today but still have not received his box.
