Hello everyone and welcome to the Navy!!! This Group was started for the loved one of DEPPERS leaving in the month of November (although everyone is welcome).......What year you say? Well ......any year!

If you have November ship out issues/questions etc., need specific information, (or have some to share) or just want to talk to someone that is where you are, with a Recruit leaving for and arriving in BC in November, ...then this is the place to be. :-)

Remember, don't "miss 'em while you're with them!" :) Make the most of every precious moment together before they leave. This will be a big transition for both of you! We'll be here for you every step of the way...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things to do in the last month before your future sailor leaves (Click on the link.)

Once your recruit has arrived at RTC, the next stop here is to join the group Boot Camp for Moms (and loved ones)  Hangout and ask questions in this group until your form letter arrives.

***New news just out today (9/25/19) from the US Navy Recruit Training Command FaceBook page:
Attention families and friends of RTC: Previously, upon arrival to boot camp, recruits would box up their civilian belongings and ship it to their choice of destination. Our new procedure now has those boxes being stored locally and will be returned to the recruits the day before graduation. The new procedure went into effect this week beginning with Div. 409 in Training Group 52.

Approx two to three weeks after your recruit arrives you will receive the "Form Letter". The form letter will include their Ship# , DIV #, their mailing address, PIR date, and the Security Access Form. The Security Access form needs to be completed and sent back to your recruit ASAP. Keep this letter in a safe place, it has the information you will need.

The date that is on the form letter is the official date for your Recruit's Training Groups PIR (graduation), Things can always change for an individual Recruit (due to illness, injury, failure to pass a final test etc.)! So, we always recommend that you plan, if possible, to purchase Refundable or Exchangeable plane tickets.

After you have received the form letter, join the group for your recruits PIR. There you can ask questions about PIR, training, hotels etc. Those groups will be posted in the Boot Camp for Mom's group.

Thanks for joining us. We hope you will realize you are not alone, and will soon make new friends, plus feel supported and encouraged! :)

**It is very important that your future Sailor be physically fit prior to shipping to the RTC (these are new standards beginning 1/1/2018) and that he be able to pass an initial run test. See Navy Fitness Standards"The initial run standard is evaluated on the 1.5 mile run of the first Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) at boot camp. The initial run standard for male recruits will be 16 minutes 10 seconds and 18 minutes 37 seconds for female recruits."

kielovestez, that is a long time. Consider how it will affect your finances and your BAH.

My husband and I decided that once I adopt him on Christmas instead of coming back to TN I will stay there for the duration of his BC which he is expected to graduate 1/9/15, and his A-School which on his papers say it's nine weeks. I haven't talked to my husband since Dec 5. He usually calls me once a week. I'm scared, worried, and extremely sad. My birthday is on the 22nd and I know he won;t be able to call just because it's my birthday, but I at least want to hear from him before Christmas. The time is moving by so slow and I'm cried all out. I usually get his letters on Thursday and time is just at a stand still. Can I get some advice?

Hi everyone! I live in Panama and my son can not call me here, so he calls his best friend in Georgia and then his friend relays the messages to me....I miss him so much! I am so glad to have found you all. It's all overwhelming to me My son is on Ship 14, Div 069. I am going to the PIR on Jan 23. Wouldn't miss it for the world.

Thanksgiving would have been like a Saturday for any division that was not adopted since it is federal holiday that is not religious in nature, so about 5 to 6 hours of training, but nothing new--No holiday routine.

I just got a call from my daughter!!  Ship 2, Div 910.  20 minutes and it was wonderful.  She cried...I think just hearing my voice...but seems to be doing well.  She said the first night she got to sleep was rough and then Thanksgiving was difficult as well.  They are a push division so Thanksgiving was just like any other day, I guess.  They haven't been able to  mail letters until today, so i should get several this week. And, she said they are allowed to receive more than just letters(and letters can have stickers, etc. on them).  She is asking that I send a better toothbrush and toothpaste..and shampoo and conditioner.  No food and they just have to open in front of the RDC.  Letters are definitely the highlight of every day.  Keep writing to your SRs!  She thinks she may get to call again next week or the following.  I'm one happy mom. :-)

Quote from church this morning, "God is 100 percent in control. God is 100 percent good." I needed to hear that since I am not in control of when I get communication from my son. I miss him but will trust in God to take care of him and all of our sailors.

Hi Moms!! My son called his gf yesterday. Very short call. He said they will most likely have calls on Saturdays if they stay out of trouble. :)It is so good to know he is well.

Almost a month now since they left. A month until we see they again. :) I'm burning my candle and writing a lot.

I was so excited when I answered the phone, I started firing questions at him, and he said, "No need to rush Mom, I've got about 20 minutes", and he was right.  It was so great to hear from him!  He did tell me that the calling card #s I got from the callsforrecruits site were not working, so he used the calling card that they got in their ditty bag.  I'm glad they got that!

Comment by lemonelephant on December 7, 2014 at 12:31pm

The recruits do not call between 7 am and 1 pm central time on Sunday. See Phone Cards and Phone Calls.
