I am having such a hard time today, but it's not why you think. My husband has been crying off and on all day. He just keeps saying "I'm going to miss him so much". Oh, I tell you it's so hard for me to keep it together and now I'm the one comforting him. It actually has helped me though, because I feel so badly for him, that I haven't cried much at all. For those of us having such a hard time, please don't forget their dads. Even though they may try to be strong, we have to remember that they are feeling the same things that we are and we have to help them through this too. ((hugs))

I'm sure tonight at dinner and tomorrow will be my time to let it all out.

Betsy.
Betsy, Hugs to you and your husband. Thank you for mentioning that. I am sure I have been too self absorbed in my on feelings and haven't thought about his. Because mine is acting so normal I forget how he is feeling beneath the facade. Wishing you and hubby and Adam and the family the best tonight. Enjoy it. I am really doing ok except Brandons cat won't leave my lap. Seeing Brandon so confident and ready to go seemed to help me a lot. I just have an empty feeling somewhere inside and I had to put alot of stuffed bears in the chair he sits in. Weird, huh. Hugs again and I will be thinking of you tonight. Oh, yes, Brandon is using his new phone cards to call tonight from the hotel in San Antonio. I look forward to that. Talk to you later. Kathy
Betsy, I agree, we do need to remember how hard this is on the Dads. Susan
No because as a mother you have to be there for your children (including dad). It is amazing how strong we can be for our families. My heart goes out to you and your hubbie.

Donna
HI Wendi, I also got a kick out of the tweety bird. Hugs. Kathy
I am back from the recruiters, softball and urgent care. Kaitlyn does have strep and I'm glad I took her in to get antibiotics since we won't be able to go to the Dr tomorrow. Well I didn't cry a drop at the recruiters. Mainly because his recruiter makes me so mad I could spit nails!! I haven't seen or talked to the guy in 5 months. He sees me and tells me that Drew told him that I have joined N4M and that he hates this site. He says that is makes his job so much harder because "us moms" are passing around a lot of bad information. I looked at him and told him that that is why he get paid the big bucks so he can answer all of our questions. I probably shouldn't have said that...Drew chuckled a little. He knew I was hot. He said that there is a good chance Drew won't graduate until January and that if it's in December not to count on him coming home for Christmas. He said it would be a logistical nightmare for the navy to get everyone who graduates that Friday from their house to their A school. I can see that point but I honestly don't think everything he told me was accurate so I have decided to just wait for the letter. Then he made a snide comment about how I probably knew about that recruit dying in CA before he did. I informed him that I found out from Drew, he actually had the decency to look surprised. There was another mom there who didn't know anything about what is going to happen. She didn't know you can go to MEPS for the swearing in and the recruiter told her that it isn't that important. Can you believe that! Her son doesn't want her to go so that's probably why he didn't tell her. I felt so bad for her. Her other son left 5 weeks ago for the Army and she has only heard from him once. My heart was going out to her. She had to say her goodbye right there in the office. I guess the good news is that I still haven't cried because I am still worked up. We will see what happens tomorrow. I hope you guys have a good time with your kids tonight. Give them lots of hugs and kisses. I am going to go text Drew to see how it's going. Susan
I agree JessicaB 100%. He is a new recruiter and I'm sure I probably know more than he does by now. I do wish though instead of resenting it, he would realize that in this age of technology this is going to happen and better educate himself so he can do a better job. Frustrating for us moms. I am so glad I found you guys because I feel so much more prepared than that other mom in the office. Susan
Ah, Susan, You have too much on your plate right now. Bless your heart. Yes, texting Drew was a good idea. I am glad he took his cell phone. My son didn't and I was begging him too. He tried to call me tonight from the hotel and he couldn't because of the hotel networking or he didn't know how to call from a hotel phone. lol. He did use someones cell phone though and sent me an email about why he couldn't phone. I sent back an email hoping he can see it telling him to use a pay phone downstairs in the lobby. Oh, well, Hopefully I can get the 5 second phone call tomorrow from Great Lakes or from MEPS or the airport before he leaves tomorrow. I am so glad that you will be seeing Drew tomorrow and can see the swearing in and say goodbye. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and all the young people leaving tomorrow. Hugs. Kathy
I forgot one thing. He did say that if they open a Navy Federal Credit Union acct that they will have their debit cards and checkbooks before they have to pay for their pictures. He also reminded Drew to sign up for the Thrift Savings Plan which is like a 401K and to get USAA for his car insurance when he gets back. I guess he did have good info, he just rubs me the wrong way. Drew does like him though. Susan
Susan...It sounds like you have had a rough day, recruiter, sick daughter and your son getting ready to leave, I wish you strength and courage, best wishes to your son...Elizabeth
P.S. - I will be right where you are Tuesday/Wednesday, the anticipation is starting to make me crack :(
Thanks, Susan that is good information to know. I am glad to hear that Drew likes him.

Betsy.
Lori,

I'm so glad that you all had a good night. That is funny about the watch. lol

I just feel so good for you that you both were able to talk today.

((hugs)) to you.

Betsy
