I thought it would be nice to start a discussion for our children leaving the week of October 25th 2010.  Welcome everyone.  Kathy

This just in...they are IN THE CAR!!! Wow...what a long day for the kids.
Yeah, Ian is flying out tomorrow. I just let him know that the airport is closed. And it is neat how our kids are meeting up with each other when they are coming from all over the country.
Sara, I totally agree. I think it makes the whole situation a little more comfortable, for me..possibly for Ian..I think he's nervous.

Yep. We are going to take off in a little while to go see Ian. He doesn't want to go to dinner..he wants to be sure he makes weight tomorrow morning. So he says water only...I wasn't aware of this until a couple of hours ago, so I'm thinking WHAT are we gonna do? He just wants to go get a cup of coffee and hang out...

I will definitely get pictures of Andrew tomorrow AM. We are going to get there early, recruiter said 8 AM but with traffic we might as well leave earlier and hang out at a Starbucks until it's close to starting time.
I just went to Send message and you had to add as a friend to send a message.

Betsy
Adam's GF received our phone call! Already! I thought it would be much later this evening. She was crying when she called. She's at work so I feel really bad for her; it was hard she said because it was only "30 seconds." He said, I'm here, I love you, you'll get a box in 2 weeks and a letter in 3 weeks. Sooooooo, we wait!
Lori,

Awww, Lori. I bet that was hard for her and you. But, at least you know he is doing well. ((hugs))

Betsy
Lori, now you can have a wonderful night sleep knowing that your child is safe. I can't wait for my phone call from my son and it is the not knowing stage that bothers me most. But in any event, he is settled and living his dream, God bless you and your family!

Kim
Awwwww, thank you Kim! And I wish you that same; God's Blessings to you and yours. Our boys are in good hands! After meeting Adam's recruiter and some of the military personnel at MEPS today, it made me even more proud of Adam's decision to serve our country. I hope you hear from Joe (or does he prefer Joseph) soon! Its quick but with today's weather, its just reassurring to know they are there safe and sound! Lori
Thanks Lori, Joseph likes to be called Joe. He just called me and they are leaving the hotel at 10am and after eating there, they will go straight to airport. It appears that 'O'Hare is now open but 500 planes were canceled yesterday, so I told Joseph to expect long delays if they are even able to fly out today. I know the poor children are tired of washing their underclothes! lol. Yes, it is reassuring to know that they are indeed safe, a little tired, anxious, but they are safe and well fed. Kim
Mmmm - Drew wouldn't have thought to wash his either. :) Susan
Oh YEAH!! It's hard, but nice to know that he is there and he is safe. Might be harder on the GF than on you in some ways. And really tough to field that call at work. Hopefully she has an understanding boss.

And now we wait, THAT'S the most difficult part of this process for me. My imagination works overtime, but I guess it's like they say on the BC side...no news is good news.
Nancy
Nancy - she has an understanding boss and crew; Adam worked where she works for almost 5 years so she has really great support! I'm hoping they get her out of there early today. She came to Lansing last night to have dinner with us but had to return home last night by herself and sad; plus she had an exam today that was very difficult to study for with everything going on. The good thing is she has 101 pts. so far due to extra credit and her Prof knows the situation so he may be lenient on her. Yes, its a practice in patience and I agree, no news is good news! Lori
