Yesterday was such a roller coaster of emotions! My sons flight got delayed twice. He was to fly out at 2:09 pm but the airport we were at wouldn't let anyone without a ticket get passed the security so we sat in a restaurant for as long as he could. He left us then walked to his group, which we could not see from where we were, and he texted me & told us just to go ahead and go home. Soooo, we left. We live 1 hour away from the airport & 30 minutes into our drive home he calls me to say "my flight is delayed until 5:11 pm & I wish you hadn't of left." I was a crying mess!!! BUT all is good today. I feel so very proud of my son & I just keep thinking how much of an honor it is to be a parent of someone who has chosen to serve their country. Prayers for all of you all and for the safety of your SR.

Anyone else have loved ones leave for GL on 10-8?

Hi. My husband left yesterday as well and his plane was delayed too. But I did hear from him late last night. So proud of my husband. Good luck to you!
Good luck to you as well
I thought about doing that as well but my son said he really wanted us to go to the airport. Prayers to you
My son also left yesterday, 10/8/14. He was so excited that it was hard to be sad. We received his scripted call last night. His group was put on a flight an hour early, so I felt bad that we lost that time. I have been a crying mess for weeks - now I just feel numb. I can't wait for the form letter with his adddress to come. I hate the idea of no contact...
I hate the no contact also but I understand it. I am ready to get the Form letter so I can send letters.

My son left on October 8th from Minnesota. I can't wait to get his address and start writing. I'd love to hear when others start getting letters and any info on PIR date. Prayers to all.

My son left as well on the 8th....his plane was first delayed in Memphis and later delayed in Dallas.  He was totally exhausted by the time he got to GL....the telephone call was brief and lasted maybe 20 seconds.  I miss my son so much it hurts.  I just would like to know that he is okay and that he is staying mentally strong.  I pray for all of the recruits....they have to step up to the different challenges they will face and stay tough.  I dread getting "the box'" as I know I will break down again!  He is my baby and my only son!!!  I pray for all the mothers who have to endure this separation.

I received "the box" today and was a mess! I didn't get any paperwork inside though. I am confused as to where the form letter is.
