Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I'm a little confused about the adopt a sailor program. We live in Atlanta and wouldn't miss graduation for anything, but I'm not sure we can go at thanksgiving as well. I'm so bummed about that because I can't imagine not seeing him if given the opportunity. Will other local families adopt them if they don't have family tahrs close?

I'm not sure how they figure that out. I do know that if a sailor is being adopted that he can bring one other recruit with him if he chooses. When I talked to my son on Sunday, he pretty much had it already figured out that I was to get the money out of his bank account to fly up there, so I'm going. It's pretty hard to get the money together though for 2 trips in 2 weeks. I was able to find a flight today from Atl to O'Hare for $110 each way, but it's still a real stretch.

There are organizations in the area that adopt the recruits who don't have family that are able to adopt them. Don't worry, your SR will have a good meal and an opportunity to call you and enjoy other things away from the RTC.

My son also left out of Atlanta on Oct 10th - another Nuke program. Still no letter, trying to get in touch with recruiter to get this information. They said the system was "down" yesterday and could not look up his address.

What's your son's first name? We were at MEPS watching them get sworn in and at the airport helping them get on their assorted planes because the Navy Liaison didn't make it onto the bus with them at MEPS. I got to meet all of the boys during the process.

Actually...I recognize the picture and know which one he was :-) Lemonelephant, who is a WONDERFUL resource on this site, will eventually contact you to let you know that you should change your picture so that your son's identity is not shown per the OPSEC regulations.
You son is very nice and well mannered. I was very impressed with him during the little time I spent with them. He really looked out for some of the other guys that were with them.

I'm still a baby navy mom, lol. I'm sure I'll learn in time. How long since you were a baby mom? You know so much about everything. I hate being new at anything.
