For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Our son is leaving for bootcamp October 9, 2013
Our daughter has been in for two years and now our youngest joined.. It's a proud moment but at the same time- it's my baby boy. Anyone else out there in the same "boat" at I am?

My son leaves Oct 22. He is my only child so I hear ya, my baby boy is leaving. I am already having a hard time with the fact he graduates High School in three weeks, let alone grasping the concept of him going away. It is funny, his whole life we have encouraged his dream to serve, but now I am having a hard time keeping a smile on my face around him. I am very excited, proud and scared for him. It is good to know we are not alone :)

Oh the joys of being a parent. High School graduation is a ride in it's self... but watching them swear in before going on the bus to boot camp- well thats a crazy rush of pride and tears. It will get better, just buy stock in Kleenex... LOL

Hi bcmadness & jenb -- same thing here, too. Our son is leaving October 23. Some moments I can see all the positive aspects of it and other times (when I'm alone in the car!), I cry wondering if it's really the right choice for him. I have to keep reminding myself of the thousands who have gone before and succeeded, but it's really hard at times! We just have to keep reminding ourselves that our sons are pretty courageous to do this, but sometimes I think I'm the poster child for "helicopter mom" !! I guess this is just another growth challenge for us as well as our kids. Take care, everyone!

Sometimes I wonder if I am also reflecting on my own feelings at that point in my life, remembering how scary it was knowing I was going out in the world as an adult, the only difference is that my son will not be home, around everyone he knwos and that makes me scared for him. Luckily, he is not as emotional as me, he says he has anxiteties about it, but knows that it is the best path for his life. I think you are right Joniana, it is a growth challenge for us as well!!!

You will cry at the smallest things some days. Sometimes a Downy commercial will get me LOL Ahh the joys of being a momma. It will get better, I could'nt believe the change I seen in our daughter. I'm looking forward to seeing them in our son in December!

It can be two or three weeks before you get the first letter. It is full of information about PIR- boot camp graduation, along with the people they chose to attend PIR.
When our daughter left, we first got her "I have made it to Great Lakes RTC" phone call, then her box, about 2 weeks later a phone call (it's hard to hang up). about three weeks after she left, thats when the information letter came.
You can never tell what day you will get calls or letters. Plus, if someone gets into trouble in their division... well that can delay calls too.
I can promise you that your son/daughter is looking forward to calling you and writing family and friends.. :-)
