Hello,

My son is leaving for BC October 2nd.  Nervous, anxious and without a doubt extremely proud.  I very curious to find out when his Graduation (PIR) will be.  His 6th week is the week of Thanksgiving, and PIR are held on Fridays.  Will the holiday impact his PIR?

Hi Soulton,  My son also leaves on the 2nd.  Lemon elephant answered some of my questions about Thanksgiving week.  PIR would be on Wednesday and then the new sailors would fly out on Friday...so an extra day of Liberty on Thanksgiving.  Of course, we won't really know until we get the form letter, but it's nice to know the possibilities!

Hi Soulton and Joje,

My son was in week 7 of BC during Thanksgiving. They were taken to different VFW halls and served dinner, were able to use cell phones (provided by VFW, not theirs) and computer time. They had PIR the following week.

Hello Debbie

Im crossing my fingers and hoping (with prayers) that he will have his graduation the day before Thanksgiving.  - "Flexibility - I know...its just a hope and a HUGE prayer! :o)

Hello Joje,

Yes, the possibilities!  Hope and a prayer that PIR would fall on Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving. See you there!

Yipes!  My son got a call from his recruiter; his ship date will be moved up, but we won't know the date until next week!  Time to get the wallet!!

I still can't upload a photo, I gave up...  :/

Calamity Sue,

Your sons "ship date"?  So, he is finished with BC and had his PIR?

I couldn't upload a photo either...I gave up as well.  LOL!  :o)

My son left on October 2nd as well. I just joined this group. This has been an up and down experience for me to say the least. I am hoping to make PIR and just pray that it is the week of Thanksgiving because I know I will have that week off. :) Fingers are crossed. It would be a big surprise to him if I was there because he isn't expecting me to be able to make it. I just hope he does add me to the list of possibilities. Love and miss my sailor so much! Very proud Mom! And I hope that letter gets here lightning fast. btw... anyone else gotten theirs yet?

My son left as well on October 2nd. Box came today but I wasn't here to get it. Had to leave release to get it tomorrow. My sons recruiter said his earliest PIR would be December 5th. Anxious to see what others have heard.

By counting 9 Fridays, PIR is most likely Wednesday, 11/26/2014, but since he arrived on a Thursday, PIR could be a week later, 12/05/2014, if a lot of recruits shipped last week and he was held over to start a division in this week's TG.

I just hope the letter arrives soon so I can start planning. It makes me anxious waiting to find out when. lol....They should be about finished with processing. Hope these weeks fly by.

My son also left for BC Oct. 2nd. I got his box on the 6th. Everything was thrown in there! but it all came home! Cant wait to receive a letter!

I got his box of things yesterday.  That was a nice surprise to a long work week. Nothing like his I'm sure.  I heard from him, and he sounded great!  I'm so proud and look forward to getting his letter.  Ill be running to the mail box everyday, until it arrives.  Our entire family misses him dearly and cant wait to see and spend time with him, come his PIR.  We're hoping that he'll have at least 1 day of liberty to spend some time with him, before its time for him to leave for A school.  Super Proud and excited to see him.
