My son leaves for bootcamp on 9/17/63, on my 49th birthday. I'm 65 pounds overweight and out of shape!  I'm looking for other moms that what to get into shape by our kids' graduation, which should be in November I'm guessing.  Let's get strong and pass the Navy Physical Fitness Assessment together.  The recruits have to pass in the 6th week of bootcamp, but I'd like to set a goal of October 31.  Here's what the Navy requires for female recruits:

Complete 1.5miles in under 14:45

54 curls in 2 minutes

20 push ups in 2 minutes

On Monday April 9 - I will officially begin my training by timing myself in all three areas - it won't be pretty - my core is weak!

I'll let you know how I do.

Good Luck to you!  I was thinking the same thing.  I wanted to surprise my son at graduation in November.  I am 60 lbs. overweight too but cannot start any program yet as I just had surgery.  I am on dialysis and on the waiting list for a kidney.  The weight is very frustrating for me as I do not eat much.  I definitely need to move more and as soon as I get cleared in another week, I hope to start your program above.  I hate exercise but maybe we can motivate each other and hopefully surprise our new sailors!

I haven't gotten motivated enough to get started.  Tomorrow I am going start eating healthier, I like the Serotonin Power Diet. The healthier foods should help to get rid of the sluggy feeling I've had.  Pool opens this weekend - hopefully I can walk a few laps.  Let me know how you are doing.

How are you feeling?  Have you started anything yet?  I haven't:(  But after reading a few of the other posts, I'm getting a little hyped.

Sorry for the late reply . . .haven't been on in awhile.  I did join a gym after I got my cath removed.  I have much more freedom now.  This will be the start of my 4th week.  I am even taking Zumba Gold classes three times a week.  The first couple of times, I was sucking air pretty bad.  Now, I can do the whole hour without stopping.  Slowly but surely, I am getting sronger and am firming up.  I have lost 7 lbs. so far but have a long way to go.  Would like to lose a total of 50 lbs. by the time my son has his PIR which I think may be on November 9th.  I have always hated exercise but I know the only way to lose weight and keep it off is to eat smaller portions, have two snacks a day, and exercise.  I have tried all kinds of diets, Weight Watchers, MediFast, etc.  You have to move to lose and have to do it for the rest of your life.  It definitely helps having my neices and other son to go with.  We feed off of each other.  17 days until my son leaves for basic training.  I am going to try and burn off my extreme sadness and nervousness by going to the gym .  How are you doing?

My son also leave for BC 9/17/12. Would love to shed some unwanted pounds.

Sounds great to me I am also about 60-70 lbs overweight. I have been thinking about investing in the Insanity fitness program. PIR is the week of Thanksgiving. I would love to show up in the best shape ever!! ;)

Hi Heather - what is PIR?  My son thinks he will be graduating from BC earlier than that - but no set date.  Since he will go on to Nuke school in Charleston, he will be home for the holidays - Christmas & Thanksgiving.

Did you get the Insanity program?

I really need a "buddy" at this point in my life to help keep me going, well get started, first - haha.  Are you up for encouraging and checking in with each other on a regular basis?

Alison

My son leaves September 27.  I was thinking the same thing about the weight loss!  I'm actually starting a bootcamp class on Monday, July 16, that lasts for six weeks... supposedly I will drop up to two pant sizes if I stick to the program.  I have to bring in a pair of shorts today for them to hold onto that are at least one size too small for me, and God knows I have plenty of those in my dresser!

So it is July 17 - and I haven't started yet.  This is the first time I've checked back into this website since my last comment.  Y'all are getting me inspired to get going!  It should would be great to show up to BC graduation a few sizes smaller!

I'm not a mom, but I would love to join. I want to drop at least 2 pants sizes at my husband graduation. All in all I want to lose 75 lbs. I want to take it slow though so it won't return.
