Transportation question for when I come out to Chicago for you all. I see there is Midway airport and O'Hare. Southwest flies to Midway and I had heard they do not penalize you if you book a flight and need to adjust it due to PIR changes. For those of you who have traveled there, which do you recommend? Any particular airline that is better to deal with? I'm coming from Southern California but will NOT be using LAX. I'll fly from Ontario or Palm Springs.  I could also use San Diego. In any event, I have to travel to an airport and am looking for the best deal.  I 'booked' a flight with Southwest for 2 leaving the 21st of Nov to return that Sunday (assuming PIR might be that Wednesday before Thanksgiving and just wanted to see what's up), nonstop, and it's costing about $950 roundtrip for 2 adults.

Thanks! Diana

Diana - Have you check Milwaukee?  I have a friend who lives in the area and said it is much easier to fly into and just as far from the base as the other airports.  Not to confuse matters even more! :)  I'm looking at Southwest too but waiting to see.  Of course fairs are going to be more that week.  :(  If you do decide to fly out of San Diego maybe we can look at flying at the same time.
That would be great Jenn. I am thinking of flying out of San D as I heard from a well traveled friend it is cheaper to fly from San D than Ontario or even Las Vegas. I was thinking of using Midway airport rather than OHare even though OHare is a pretty cool airport. RIght now, i want easy and cheap! Yes, it will be the most expensive time of year to fly. Who knows, they may be the week after. The Wednesday before puts them at not even 8 weeks in. We won't know until that form letter arrives....
