For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Well my son was due to ship out for Great Lakes 9/11. He gets to MEPS that morning and is 3 pounds underweight. They ended up sending him home with supplements and a plan to gain weight. He was told "no matter what you are shipping out monday 9/16". Now today he reports to his recruiter and is told his CS spot in A school has been filled, he needs to either pick another job or wait until 10/2014 to go. WTF! He is totally despondent. He is a budding chef, CS is what he wants to do. He has already been waiting for 5 months to go. I do not understand why the A school spot would be filled BEFORE they even go to basic? What if someone fails a test, gets sick, breaks a leg- they have no idea how many that start basic will finish basic. His recruiter has been lousy and has dropped the ball on a few other occasions and I am not getting any answers. We are so frustrated and have no idea where to turn or what we can do if anything. He has maintained his weight all along, but was recently ill with tonsilitis. Any help would be appreciated. He is so discouraged. Thanks for letting me vent. Amy

I'm sorry to hear that! My daughters recruiters were wonderful! She went it as an HM. When she first signed up at the beginning of her senior year her recruiter told her they may not have that open and she may have to wait and that the spot may open is someone drops out or goes home. Luckily the spot was open and everything has gone smoothly for her. There is always another recruit right behind waiting to fill those jobs :(
