Thank you Ginger. I myself think day two will be the hardest... while giving my son a bath I got the feeling of it "starting to sink in" im so not ready for tomorrow. I was lucky enough to have my dad around me all day today so i haven't gotten to really break down but boy do i feel it coming!

I hope you are able to stay busy and occupied during this time, im always here if you guys ever need or want to talk after all we are in this together like you said :)

Thank you very much for those kind words. I am too like you, today I just wanted to be alone with the boys an just try out a new routine and so far it worked! These two are complete opposite of yesterday, yesterday they weren't terrible but I think if didn't correct it quick we could have had major problems.

and surprisingly i'm not as sad today... i'm actually really happy and excited for him to be in boot camp now.. I wonder how long this phase will last haha!

Yes he has been trying to get in for about 2 years already. We started our process when we lived in oregon back in 2010.. We had to move back to California so i could give my grandpa some in home care that he was going to be needing that year transferred everything over to san diego.. an boy.. the wait just started from that point on.. we did not have very good luck here in san diego but after 18 months.. here we are finally :) My husband was going to school for his BA but things didnt work out.. he was lucky enough to have enough college credits to bump him up to a E-3 Woo hoo! He is hoping to complete his BA though while in his contract..

My hubby was also told the same thing, older ones ( hes 27 but doesn't look it when he shaves ) would most likely be taking care of the younger ones, which i think could be really fun! but I must say I agree with you, It makes me kinda jealous that he gets to have this fun experience and im stuck at home but at least I have my kiddos, thats always a plus hehe

my goodness I cant wait to see him again! All this talk makes me so antsy a good kind of antsy though. btw sorry if spelling is messed up in this post I have a one year old jumping on me

I love the schools in oregon, im currently enrolled at Portland community college, wanting to also transfers and become a beaver.. but still looking into being a duck just not so sure yet. My husband wanted to do crypto also but when he finally was able to pick a job all they had was pact seaman ( undesignated ) we had already been in processing for so long that he just decided to take it. But he is wanting to strike for aviation mechanic so I hope he gets what he wants when hes able too but if not all we can do is make the best of what we have and are given.

You hit the nail on the head with kids will grow faster then i can imagine! these two are getting huge makes me kinda sad knowing the mr. is going to miss seeing them grow an mature... but its a sacrifice we decided to make

Yeah im about 45 minutes away from san diego right now.. id LOVE to move back to portland.. but its going to take some time. Im thinking maybe in 3 years? But we shall see how everything goes for now. My oldest son is 2 1/2 and the youngest is 1 .. well 1 1/2 but still 1! haha

oh yes lots and lots of pictures will be taken, im starting to make little pictures in im not sure what they are called but the plastic things you put paper in? im going to put pictures in those an place them around the boy's bed's so "daddy can be next to them". Our old recruiter was telling us before he was going to lunch and the bus that the boys arnt going to recognize him at first and itll take some getting used to so im hoping the pictures and old videos will help them realize who he is when we are together again. AHH scary times!! i dont want to think about that =/

very true! ill make it a goal to have the mr. more popular then santa in the next couple weeks :p that's a good way you explained it though i got to admit that.

those moments scare me when you don't remember passing people or certain areas. I always have the scary thought that I hit someone. popping in a learn spanish cd could always be a good thing and def. worth a shot. At least in a way you are talking to someone even though they are on a cd. I've been noticing im just trying to keep myself thinking im happy and excited when really im miserable. Last night was a tough one.. the kiddo's weren't to bad but after them falling asleep i feel so alone and ill have my phone every where i go for that JUST IN CASE moment that maybe hell call even though i know he wont. Maybe reality is just finally setting in for me that he isn't going to be around for a very long time. I hope after a week ill adjust and be ok.. Sorry for being a debbie downer in this response .. I think i need to either make some friends or get a hobby maybe that will make things easier :)

NO WAY!!! I would have smacked that girl!! but you are right if we arnt sad then something must be wrong. ill get out of this funk eventually. I hope your son's girlfriend feels better soon also.

yes im on pinterest. i love that site! im actually pinning as we type haha. :)

oh yes and I have been wanting to ask you, do you know what happens next? They got shipped off now we wait for our "kid in a box" and the letter with their address and PIR... then what? do we get any more phone calls? I know its only been 2 days but im always by the door hoping that little box would be there even though i know its WAY to early.. im also wondering if ill even get a box.. the mr didnt take anything with him =/

Thats so great, she is very lucky to have you guys so accepting of her into your family :) not everyone is so lucky with that. I wish the mr. and I had something like that. The part about you going to find that girl just made me laugh.. especially when you mentioned your height.. i really needed something like that to cheer me up so thank you. small things can always pack a big punch so that girl better watch it if you do decide to find her :-p

I looked a little up about what comes next an it said they may get to call after 4 weeks... but im not sure if thats true i also read no news is good news so im guessing thats for phone calls. I hope that we have the same PIR date, that way id "know" someone else over there.

My son, Matt, left from Atlanta on 9/18. I live in California but we talked or texted nearly everyday and he just spent three weeks out here visiting. I have felt so strange all week. He is almost 25 so will be one of the older ones. Got the 15 second phone call. This is one of the hardest things I have ever gone through even though we are proud of his decision and our family is mostly military. I am already writing him notes and saving them until I get his address. Makes me feel better for now anyway!

I know the feeling, I was doing really well on Wednesday but the past two days I feel so strange just mainly empty and lonely :(  I to am writing letters everyday and saving them until we can send them out.

I wonder if your son and my hubby will ever cross paths! I was thinking about that alot today, I know my husband was in the group with the first lady commenting this and I started thinking about if he knows MaMa Fox's son or met him and now yours!

If you ever need to talk im here for ya! I think talking makes me feel a little better.. sometimes at least.

Thanks...Matt is very "social" and had a few going away parties before he left. He was in a fraternity and they have been so supportive. But after the parties he spent a couple of days with his aunt and uncle but did not want to have any family or friends around after he got to the hotel Monday. I think he could not do anymore good byes. My husband and I got married four years before he retired from the USAF and he has friends everywhere. He now works for Lockheed and those friends come in real handy when wanting to move or change jobs. What is your husband's name and I will let him know in one of my letters to him.

I am an RN and I work in a surgery center in the OR. Tuesday I did such stupid stuff I nearly ran my boss crazy but she knew what I was going through ( I did nothing to endanger a patient) Just stupid stuff on paperwork. I am off Mondays and Fridays and I spent most of today in bed sleeping. Not from depression, just mental and physical exhaustion.

Matt is going into avionics? What is your husband's career field?

Im sorry I didnt reply to you! My husband is going in as a pact seaman. He wanted aviation mechanic but by the time he had picked his job they had no more left except for pact seaman.

We had done an early thanksgiving for the hubby and that was his only going away party. Its good to hear your son has a good support system when he decided to join.

I hope today is going better for you, and lets keep an eye out on the mail they said usually 4-7 days after you receive the " kid in a box" you get your letter that states the div. they are in .
