my son is going in SECF. How about yours?

My son is leaving the 24th as well, out of NY. His date just got moved up today from the 26th. The time is going so fast! I have been reading so much on this site and see there is so much more to learn. I'm glad to see there are so many on here supporting each other!

He is leaving out of Central, NY. We actually live a little over an hour from where you are! :) What job is your son going in for?

my son leaves on the 24 of Sept also from north MS. Welcome to the journey. I think we have found a very supportive and wonderful group of ladies here

I feel like I need a glossary. Tidefan, what is SECF? My son is going into EOD (explosive ordnance disposal). I am pretty much terrified.

sonar electronics computer field. I think lol. It is on a sub. I don't think I want either ones job.

Good Morning!   :raising my hand:  :)  My son Kyle leaves the 24th also.   I'm looking to connect with other Mom's too.  I'm still trying to deal with the fact that in  a few weeks, I have absolutely no control over him anymore.  Still holding it together pretty well for the moment.

I have had a minute or 2 of blues but just so proud of him and what he is doing

My son left on the 24th also.  Very hard to believe that I can not talk with him.  I am trying to hold it together.  Hang in there.  Can't wait for my first letter.

I have a feeling I am the old woman in the group. My son is 28 and my only child. He did two years with the Peace Corps in a remote part of Nicaragua. Came home and 5 months later and enlisted. I got to visit him half way through so we have experienced being apart for long periods with only occasional emails and rare phone calls. Having little to no experience with military I feel like I am learning a new language. tidefan, I agree subs and bomb disposal are both scary to me. I will admit that I have been a little weepy but I am proud of his determination, courage and his servant's heart.

I am so thankful to have other moms for support. Let me hear more about your future sailors.

my son is 25. He went to college after high school. 5 years later had a full time job , part time job , girlfriend, and school but not in that order necessarily. My husband and I had health issues so he came home to help out. We are all well now and he has joined the Navy. He had talked about it before but had to meet the weight requirements. I will miss him so much but I can not put into words how proud I am of him and his determination to make a difference and serve his country. He has always been a big history and military buff and now he will live it.

Hello My Son Leaves for BC From Utah 9/26  Time is deffantly coming way to soon!!!!
