My son left on 9/27/12 left for boot camp. I have been pretty sad, but as time goes by I know it will get easier. Looking for other Moms who's son's or daughter's left at this time. Hoping to get the box on Monday and a letter soon with address! How are you other moms holding up?

My son also left for BC on Sept. 27!  I'm hanging in there!

Hi, Linda! This is MarySue! You already know how I have been! A wreak! LOL! Just started on this site yesterday! Nice to see ya on here!

Haha!  I realized that after I replied.

My son left on 9-20 and also he is my first born and it killed me when he left. Joining this website helped me out alot, knowing that I was not alone. His box did arrive last Friday 9-26-12, but it went to my Parents address, I looked forward all week to getting it and then they opened it. It hurt alot. But I write alot of laters and make copies of alot of pictures to send to him, I can't wait to hear from him and get his address so I can start mailing letters. I hope things get easier, but I know exactly where you are coming from. It hurts knowing you cant text or I'm not going to get that phone call her at work, like I used to. Hang in there!

Thanks ZacMansMom2012! Today has been a week. Yesterday and today have been a lot better than the last few. I am patiently waiting for that letter! It is killing me to wait for it! I hope by now that you received your son's address and you are writing a lot of letters. You to hang in there! Seems like the time is going slow for me!

My son left on 9/27 also.  Actually we dropped him off at the hotel the night before and I think that night was the worst one.  I think that was when it hit me that everything was going to be different and that he was really leaving home.  It was good to go and see him get sworn in on Thursday though and see how confident he was in his decision and how ready he was to go.  I will be glad when we get the letter with his address and graduation date.  I am still anxious to see when PIR actually is, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving or the week after.  I have heard both dates so it will be good to know for sure.

I think the drop off the evening of 9/26 was the hardest thing for me too.  All night long I kept remembering watching him walk into the hotel by himself.  That was my good cry night!  I watched him standing so tall and proud at the swearing in ceremony and realized he is doing exactly what he wants to do and I couldn't have been more proud of him.  I'm anxious to find out about PIR too.  Nick's recruiter said it could actually be the previous Friday or the following Friday.  Its all a waiting game now!

VickiK, Did you receive your letter yet? I do not know how everyone else can call there recruiter and get the division/ship number and when my husband called our son's recruiter he did not have the info and said that he has not been assigned a division yet? So, I was very confused by that. He has been there a week so I am wondering what is going on! I want that darn letter to come!!! I hate waiting!

Not everyone is able to get info from the recruiter early; it all depends on how soon information is entered into the system, which can take 2-4 business days after the recruit arrived, and longer if the recruit is held in P-days for some reason. Just hang on; the letter will come; it sometimes takes as long as 3 weeks to receive the form letter, but most receive them within 2 weeks. Remember "No news is good news!" If there is a problem, you will get a call, and that is not a call you want to receive. There may be a hold up in P-days that your recruit will have to fill you in on later.

My daughter left on 09/26 and I received her box on 10/01.  I spoke with the recruiter who told me she is in Ship 03, Division 017 with PIR date of 11/21/12.  I am still waiting for the form letter..My first born as well..

Join the group, PIR 11/21/2012 TG 02 – 11 Divisions (009-018 & 902), to connect with others with loved ones training with your SR.  Know that Divisions 017 and 018 are brother divisions and train together and will have Battle Stations-21 together, so look for others with loved ones in either division.  There will be a discussion within that group for the two divisions.

My boyfriend left the 27th of September as well. His mom has received the box filled with his stuff but no address, letters, or anything else has arrived yet. I'm writing him everyday but it's difficult to wait. I've seen that many who left around the same time have a PIR date of 11/21. However, since I work in a department store I have to worry about black friday 2 days after, I may have to quit my job because I wouldn't miss his graduation for the world.
