I just got a call from my son that he landed in Chicago safely.
I am a mess.... I miss him and just don't know what to expect.
He is my oldest and I just hope he will be okay. It's hard
not being able to talk to him so I can know how he is doing.
I tried calling him back and texting him but no answer
so I figure the drill instructor has made him turn off his phone.
Does anyone know if there is some type of website where
they will post pictures of them at boot camp? Also when does
this feeling of sadness get better???? I can't stop crying
and I feel soo helpless :'(

my daughter left today as well...she texted that they were headed to dinner then a 45 min bus ride to RTC. it is my understanding thaat they will call once there...
reading info from these women has been helping me all day!
My husband just got there today too so I know how you feel. It's hard but we have to stay strong for them cause if we fall apart they will feel something isn't right and it will make it harder on them. I have a 3 year old so it's extra hard cause I want her to act like everything is okay so I am trying to just hold back the tears. Just know your not in this alone!

Hi navywifetiffany, my husband left on the same day as your husband's. I read your comment and it somehow made me feel better knowing I am not alone in this situation. We have a 15months old son and it quite breaks my heart to know he will miss simple yet precious days with him. It's pretty hard  and I can't stop worrying about him in there. I am used to communicating with him everyday and now, it made me sad not getting at least a hi from him.

Hello Aa! I think I meet your husband and his aunt. Him and my husband became friends while in DEP so I was very comfortable with my husband going in with him. Also, while waiting at the MEPS office for them to leave it seemed like he was meeting other SR's that were also leaving the same. I'm not sure if you got the phone call from him that night but my husband called around 11:30 Monday and that was the last call I got. I understand it is very hard because you do have a small child but it is important for you to stay close with your family. I am going to take this time away as time I can spend with my family and I'm also keeping our 3 year old daughter busy with Gymnastics, Ballet/Tap, and Swimming Classes. I know we will be moving to wherever he PCS's at the End of Year so I'm tying up all lose ends here. Whenever I get the address I will let you know. I don't know if they will be in the same ship together but I will write my SR and have him give your SR a calling card. I sent my husband with International Cards because his mom lives in Belize.

Stay close to your phone because they will let him call you when he is processed and talk for 15 secs. He'll let you know he is safe and to expect a box with all his items to arrive in 1-2 weeks. Also he will tell you he will be calling again in 2-3 weeks. My call came at 2am. There is not a website from bootcamp, but if you go to navydep.com you can find a link that explains their day to day. Hang in there. It gets better. My son left thurs and I only cried twice today!!
I received my call a few minutes ago, I could hear the drill instructor
in the background telling him what to say. It felt soo good to hear his voice
but soo impersonal at the same time. I can't wait to get his address
so I can write to him. Thank you ladies for the comments
it helps to know that I'm not alone.
I've been writing my son everyday since he left. I will just send whole letter out when I get his address. It makes me feel better, and that way he can stay informed on day to day life here at home. Another idea someone gave me was to get him a subscription for the local newspaper. I can just change his address when he goes to a school- another link from home.
My call came in Sunday night at nine. As hard as it is for us we have to focus on staying strong and showing them our strength, so they are encouraged and feel good about their decision. I know my daughter Kate was worried more about me as time came closer to her leaving. When we said our good bye's with the of God, family and friends I was able to send her off with a smile because she saw I would be OK.
I got my call around 11:30 last night and I am missing him already! I'm used to him calling every morning when he's at work to check on us so it feels weird waiting by the phone for a call that I know is not coming! I wrote him a letter and it made it a little better but I know in time things will start to go faster!

my son left yesterday. still no phone call. i was told not everyone gets to make one if they get busy :( ugg, that makes me so sad. i waited all night long just to hear his voice. hope they are all doing great there and us moms just keep trecking on day by day waiting lol... if here if anyone wants to talk... helps keep me sane i think

Waaahhoooo I just got "the box" today! I was standing right at the door when the FedEx lady knocked! I was so happy! I almost cried! My husband wrote inside the box that he loves and misses me and our daughter!! I'm on cloud 9 right now!
@navywifetiffany, wow that was fast, you did say you're
husband arrived to BC on Sept 9th this Monday, right,?
I luckily work from home so should be here when they deliver
the box. I can't wait to get my son's box, hopefully he will write
a little something too. So happy for you :-)
