My son is an HM leaving Sept 5 2013 for bootcamp.  I am looking to connect with other moms/wives who might share this timeline. Thanks!

My son also leaves that exact same day.  Are you ready?

NO, are you?  We knew it was coming, but to actually say goodbye is really difficult!

my son leaves for MEPS on 9/23 and boot camp 9/24/13

I hear your pain!  I would like to respond to you more fully but need to run to work right now.  Will respond later today.  Please know that you are NOT alone in this!

My son is leaving Sept 10th.  I cant believe how fast it is coming.  We have his going away party scheduled for the 1st!

Our son's party was on the 16th - we had his older Navy brother home for 7 days during that time.  I was absolutely thrilled to have all my sons in the house at the same time.  So incredibly gut-wrenching to see them go.

That had to be hard.  I have been secretly getting sad about all the 'last' things my son and I are doing.  I know he will be back from time to time, but I also know this it, things will never be the way they are now.  I have a daughter who goes to college 2 hours away, and although I miss her dearly when she is gone, I always know she will be back once a month, holidays and summers.

I know! Just grocery shopping is causing me to pause and think "I don't need to get his frozen blueberries for protein shakes anymore."  Or this is the last time he will have to do a particular chore, of all things!

My son leaves for MEPS on 9/2 and boot camp on 9/3

Likely all our kids who leave around the same date with graduate with the same PIR date.  What are yours going in for? Mine is an HM.

Mine is signed up for PR (Aircrew Survival Equipmentman). He is excited.  Part of his final for training will be packing his own safety equipment and jumping from a plane!  Needless, the whole idea scares me!

RIGHT! That is scary!  Mine will be a Corpsman (medical).  He is going Greenside which means he will be attached to a Marine Unit - probably going into a combat zone.  He wants to be with a SWCC team which are the ones who go out in the boats (canals/rivers) and patrol completely exposed.  Gasp.
