For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! My LO said that they won their rifle drill competition and their DI is allowing them a piece of pie and they get to eat Thanksgiving dinner with a fork at ease!

JudyM--sorry so late with the response. The class number for Jan 30 should be 09-11. You can start a group here and also on Facebook to start gathering family members and support. It is a rollercoaster ride--Hang on!

My son will report for OCS January 30. This is all pretty new. Any words of wisdom?

Once a student graduates they will get some leave. However, how much they get and how much they can take will depend on their subsequent orders for their first duty station. (report date which they cannot miss). Those going to follow-on schools may also have an interim duty station awaiting another class and that duty station may not be close to their class location. (stashed is the term). I had two weeks of leave but had to report within 10 days of graduating.

My son is currently at OCS in RI, (he may also get some time at Christmas) but it is my understanding that they will get some time off after OCS.

Hi Jobug. My son made his application in Feb/Mar of this year for a pilot slot. He found out he was selected in April and in June he received his OCS selection letter telling him his start date. He found out pretty quickly for his designation. Good luck to you!

To Jobug-- hate to tell you this to, but if your husband is going to be in the Navy, you are looking at a life of uprooting. That's the military liefestyle. The needs of the Navy will supercede the family. There are a number of websites, groups and forums you can go to to get an idea of what to expect. Navy4 Moms is great and there is NAMMAS--National Association of Military Wives and Spouses ----http://www.nammas.org/--much good luck to you and your family! .

It took my son about 9 months from when he first talked to a recruiter to entering OCS. Some of it depends on their choices of designations and when those boards meet. In some ways I think the delay is a good thing because it gives them time to think things through and make a well thought out decision.

To Jobug--I hate to tell you this but there is no schedule. It is all in the hands of the USN. My son started the applicaton procedure in September of 2009, had everything completed and turned into the board by February, 2010 --was told in May that he was accepted and was given a class date of Oct 3 in July. As you can see the whole process took a year. It's frustrating--wheels turn slowly...

My Son is so excited to be at OCS. His father (searay50) and I are hoping to keep in touch and follow his time there. I went through OCS during Christmas and the dates should be similar to the colleges. Two weeks I believe but I think we will all know more once they get past the first couple of weeks and settle in.
