Hello. This site has been so helpful. My husband is in bootcamp right now with a PIR date of 11/24. Day before Thanksgiving... Ugh!!! I'd love to hear experience's from wives of the transition from BC to A-School. His A-school will be in Texas. Is it common for a Sailor with dependents to be deployed for his very first order?

Hi,

While I may not be a MA wife, I have been an MA for about 8 years now. In order to help you better can you please tell me what you know already? I can then fill in the blanks you may or may not have.

Depending on where the Member is stationed dictates wether or not he can bring his dependents with him or not. Generally E1-E3 do not bring their dependents OCONUS(overseas).
Hi. I just found out that he leaves for A-school Dec.1st and will probably get to come home for Christmas. When should he find out where he will be going? I guess Im just going to get over not having control of anything and just wait and see. I was wondering generally do MA's get more shore duty or sea duty. From reading different post I guess there is just no way to determine it. With two children, all of this is very overwhelming! Thanks for offering your help.
Hi again. He will find out where his first duty station will be while he is in A-school. I think it was midway through or something like that. Just remeber that you for the most part are in the Navy as much as him so the not having control is common. :)

Generally speaking MA's do get shore but there are alot of other commands that he will have to "deploy." Best thing is to sit back and relax and let the process lay out in front of you, don't stress out over that because like you tons of people have been in your shoes.

Good day!
My husbands only been an MA for a little less than a year now.. but from my experience.. talking to him about all his A- school friends, most married sailors stayed stateside.
Hi ya'll! Thanks for your responses. PIR is close by and I cant wait to see my sailor!
aw it's such a bittersweet moment when you see him again!
I know it!!! Luckily he will be home on Dec.13th, so we will get a litte more time:-)
