DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hey there! We live down here in southern MD where most people take a look around and say,"Wow! What do you guys do down here?"  We reply, "Nothing but relax and have fun on the water!"  This is where NAS Pax River is located, home of TPS, JSF, Strike and the new Poseidon (E3).

I work at the West Basin Marina on board NAS and have the most beautiful area to work on the base.  No fighting for parking, no crabby women or office antics.  It's just the mgr and me along with the cranes that fuss at us when we arrive early in the morning to start the day. :-)

My husband is NavAir on board Webster Field and former Navy himself, ET.

Our son will be heading North tomorrow morning to take his ASVAB and then on Tuesday his physical. He has decided that after 1 year of college with a major in ITS-Security.  His best from from HS is committed to the Army and leaves next month, feeling the separation he decided maybe the military was something he could do, too.

His interest has turned to Cryptology and he has 4 years of Spanish under his belt.  We are hoping his ASVAB scores are high enough to qualify him for that field.  His pre-score was 72 and he knows exactly where to improve to get it into the 90's.

Hope to hear from other moms who are in the tri-county area known as Southern MD!

there is nothing to do here. i live in st mary county its BORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING!
Hi - I'm new to the site. Just joined a few days ago and it took me this long to find Maryland : ) I'm in Waldorf. My son, Jason, is at Great Lakes right now and scheduled for PIR on 10/29. I've only had one short phone call so far. I'm hoping to get a letter this week but thinking that no news is actually good news also.
I'm sorry you find St Mary's county boring. If you are from a big city, it can be kinda hard to live here. However, there's almost always something going on either at the fairgrounds or over the river to AnneMarie Gardens. Hope that helps and I work on the base.
I'm in Waldorf. I love it!!! Not too far from the city, but far enough to be away from the city.

Hello to everyone in SoMD - Hope you had a good holiday : )  I hadn't checked this discussion for a long while because it seemed no one was posting.  Guess that'll show me.  lol

I'll check more often now.

Hello to all in SoMD.  We are in Calvert County -- once a rural area but not so much anymore.  It's close enough to DC, Baltimore, Annapolis, and Northern VA but still allows peace and quiet . . . and a great public school system for our kids.

Hello there!  I am in Calvert County  --  WOOT WOOT!!!!!  My son left 10/25 for Great Lakes, received the box, but no PIR letter........  It's nice to know someone exists down here!!!!  All of my friends that I left behind in Northern Virginia think I live in another country - like they need a passport or something....  silly girls......   I love it here - nothing but farm land and very little drama....  What I love most?  No keepin' up with the Joneses'.........
