MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

Welcome Aboard for Gator Games Fun in the Med!!!

A more complete description of this adoption is on the Molly's Adopt A Sailor group page under the "August ......" discussion.  If you don't belong, I invite you to join.  It is a busy, happy, accepting and supportive group of women.

In the info posted the words "games" and "chocolate" show up often, I think that is a hint.  Let's see what we can do for these 625 sailors.

Packing party will be on Saturday, August 18, at 1pm at Sheryl's home in Groton, MA.  (If you need instructions, please PM either Sheryl or myself.)  The format will be the same as before.  Bring your items to pack and a snack to share.  AND bring along a picture of your sailor so we can see each other's children.

Here’s the ‘Wish List” from our contact, the ships RP1:  (Note: no pillow cases permitted by the ship for this adoption.)

She says in her email...

“My list is compiled from things that I see firsthand some sailors run out of and the ship store does not carry or runs out of.  Movies/TV series (DVDs, any kind works) are welcome.  Homemade treats are the best - cookies, chocolate and brownies.

PERSONAL CARE ITEMS ~

Shampoo and conditioner

Soap

Toothpaste and mouthwash

Hand sanitizer

Lotion

Shoe polish (black)

Purex 3 in 1’s (laundry soap) is good

SNACKS AND TREATS ~

Homemade treats - cookies, chocolate and brownies - note:  chocolate is a big request! :)

Candy

Chips/popcorn

GAMES ~

Board games

Phase 10 (card game)

Scrabble

Jenga

Taboo

Playing cards

Dominoes

Jump ropes

Bubbles

Jacks.....”

And of course - cards and letters of support from home are the most welcome of all :)

Attending:  Sheryl, Denise, Darlene, Johanna, Buddy's Mom (& Grandmother?), Kathy, Becky and her friend & me, Donna.

My cell is 978 877 2374 if directions are needed ..... It will be a fun time , and lets plan on packing lots of love to the Med ...

Have you seen the video that Marcy (August's Mom of the Month) put together about the Iwo Jima?  It is on the Molly's Adopt a Sailor page.  I tried sending it to people that I am friends with, but I'm not sure it got to everyone.

If you didn't get a chance to see it, go to Molly's Adopt A Sailor.  Then go to the discussion about the August Adoption - GATOR games and fun, or something like that and watch the video.  I promise you it is worth the effort!

AND, Marcy formerly lived in MA and worked at ABC in Dedham (I think she said Dedham), but regardless of town at one time she was with the local affiliate.

If your name isn't on this list of those coming, I apologize for missing and/or forgetting I heard from you.  PLEASE add your name in a comment.

YOU??????

I have labels, custom forms, boxes and priority tape and will pick up more on my daily trips to the post office.

Will check my supply of Molly labels and bring them also.

Dee

I sent an invite to Pauline (coco) and will kept you posted on her status.

My sister lives in Pepperell, will see if she is available as she ususally works on Saturdays.

Donna or Cheryl, I will be there, need to get some supplies for the girls..to me its easier to send to girls, but that may be because my sailor is female.

The best to get, if you can, is the clear tape.  Then if it goes over a label, or we need to tape the postage on the box we can use it for that as well as taping up the boxes.  I usually pick up tape at Ocean State Job Lot or one of those places.  There is one clear tape (don't remember who makes it) but it is so tough you only need one strip per seam.

I have 2 that are about 2/3's used of the tape from the Post Office.

So, whatever you can find is good.  You can also check in with Dee (Denise).

I have picked up some body wash, stationary, journals, jump ropes, jacks, rubber balls to bounce, paddles with balls attached, some wrapped candy that we can open and share with all our boxes.  I'm going to make some brownies.  Now I can't remember.  I did get a few things from people at church.

I will get a list together of what I have in my living room - since I promised to move it to the trunk of my car for my husband's sake!!  LOL  He really doesn't mind, but I thought he might appreciate not having to walk around bags etc.  I'm also bringing some recordable story books from Hallmark as well as the other loot I was able to get from them.

I'm low on snack items.  So we need to think about picking up some of those, especially those...  Always need to send the snacks, right?!

Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday.  Happy shopping everyone!

Hi Sheryl,

I will be attending the packing party on Saturday with a friend who is also a former Navy wife.  We may not be there right at one since we are going bike riding in the AM.

Becky

YEAH!!  Nine and counting.  Tami can't make it, unfortunately, but she is sending along some things for us to pack.

I haven't forgotten that I owe everyone a list of what's been bought for us by MAS, donated, etc.  I will get that list up sometime today.  Just have a couple of errands to run first & then I promise to settle down and do some writing and counting.

But, I do know that I don't have any snack items in my multiple bags of items.  So if you haven't shopped yet, you might like to see about some.  Regardless, whatever we pack is going to be loved by the ones who get our boxes!!

Can't wait to see everyone on Saturday!

Hi

I have 3 1/2 rolls of the Priority Tape and 3 rolls of clear tape, 12x12 priority boxes (adding to the stash with my daily PO trips, custom forms, Priority stickers and labels.  I'll bring my "Molly" stickers also.

I think I have enough stuff for 6 female boxes: jump ropes, jacks, body wash, deodarant, ponytail holders, tampoons, toothbrush kits, raxors, no show socks, note cards, nail polish along with some other stuff that can go for the girls or everyone.

OK, here's my list of my stash. I've forgotten some of the items that MAS is buying for us to ship, but I'll leave them for a surprise!  You'll see from my counts that I was planning on doing 3 female boxes; but some stuff can be for either.  Here goes:

6 Body Wash                                    40 rolls Smarties candy

1 Paddle ball                                     3 Puzzle books

3 Body Mists                                    2 - 3pk small bubbles

3 Maybelline mascara & lipsticks       3 pink bubble wands

6 socks (female)                               5 jump ropes

3 nail polish & more lipsticks             4 light-up yoyo's

3 sets of jacks                                 1 bar of soap

4 tubes of toothpaste                        1 men's deodorant

1 set men's deodorant & body wash   10 black pens

3 Rubber bouncy balls                       2 decks of cards

Games:  Uno, Dominoes & Jenga

Also, I picked up 3 journals & coordinating stationary for women

6  Hallmark Recordable books             5 Spa body creams  (These items are part of what Molly's bought for us.)

I'm going to try and bake some brownies - but it is a busy week for me.  I may end up baking Friday night, but I will do my best.

OK, Mommas I think we are well on the road to having a successful packing party and a whole lot of fun too!!
