No, but it must be disappointing after doing the MC training school.

I never even heard of cranking.  I'm new with this stuff.  Bonnie, Elizabeth's duty sounds like some exciting places.  And PR training sounds great.

From what i get from my husband and his buddies is cranking is sort of the "initiation to ship life" Usually all junior sailors do it when they first get on a ship for about 6 months. (At least thats what our one friend is experiencing now) Mess Cranking is the one most do and its just cleaning the galley, while they mess crank they also get their ship qualifications. My husband was hoping he could avoid cranking since he is on sea duty now but not on a ship. Ill have to tell him that your daught, stephsmom, is doing it after being on a ship a while! he wont like that lol.  After the while in cranking they get to actually do their jobs!   Thats what i hear about cranking lol Never hear dof security cranking though!

@stephsmom, I reread what you updated about Stephanie.  So she is going to Hawaii to meet friends, what a great idea. It is what I wanted Elizabeth to do, to fly out of Guam, to Hawaii and meet us there--We're in San Francisco. She was unable to get a leave because all the leave slots were taken by the time she figured it all out...grrrr! I am sure Stephanie will have a blast meeting up with friends. Lucky her.  Glad she enjoys her job, ship duty, it sounds like. Ship duty has been hard on Elizabeth.  Well, keep in touch, I like to hear from everyone and where everyone is ...or is going on to...

What is 'cranking in security?'So much activity suddenly! Glad to get updates on our various kids and their latest activities!

Daughter Elizabeth left last May, for ship duty after 2 years shore duty in Italy,   to Dubai, then Ba'hrain, on  through the Indian Ocean, Indonesia, with a stop in the Phillipines and is now in Guam. Hot, hot, hot.  I think she has now just about circumnavigated  the entire globe!  She is being sent to Japan for PR (public relations) training. How does she like ship duty? You asked?  Hmmm. sort of a novelty at first, but after awhile, it sort of grates on her nerves! She works in the print shop on board, with many duties, one of which was to film the man-overboard training drill...while.bobbing  in a life raft, in the Indian Ocean! She assured me that she was surrounded by several large and able-bodied seaman just in case she would be tossed in the ocean and become the real 'man overboard. Oh, the adventures!  Priscillaz, what is Rachel studying while at Ft.Meade, C school?

How is Rachel managing her family along with the demands of the Navy? It must be challenging. How does this work? How are her arms, or hands that gave her so much pain. Has she healed?
