Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have been calling the military ID card issuing office in Warren for the last few months and can't seem to get anyone to answer or return my messages. Does anyone know how to go about getting an ID card for a navy wife??

Thanks!

Nikeisha

Nikeisha, I don't know anything about that, but I would contact the ombudsman of your husband's ship.

You don't need to contact the ombudsman - just walk into the DEERs office. On our base, it's inside the Pass and ID office right outside the main gate. Some offices will require appointments to get an ID, but a lot also do walk-ins. My husband and I were in and out with no appointment in less than 15 minutes. You will most likely need your husband to go with you. You will need forms of ID, like your license, SS card, birth certificate, and marriage certificate (plus his military ID).

I was going to suggest talking to the recruiter, but I think EmilyNicole's answer is right on.

I found this resource list in the "What's an Ombudsman..." group:

A Congressionally chartered, non-profit organization that represents the interests of the Sea Service community before the U.S. Congress, the Association’s membership is comprised of current and former enlisted members of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. FRA was chartered as the Fleet Reserve Association in 1924 and, after more than 80 years, FRA remains dedicated to its primary mission of serving the interests of current and former enlisted Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard personnel. In addition to its legislative advocacy efforts, FRA assists its members with career problems by maintaining close liaison with the Departments of Defense, Veterans Affairs, Homeland Security, and other government agencies. FRA continues to educate members of Congress, many of whom have little or no military experience, on the challenges facing career personnel. Also offer Scholarships and other benifits.

All service members should occasionally log onto this site (after changing commands or moving) and make sure their information is accurate for themselves and any dependants. This information is crucial in cases of natural disasters, acts of terrorism or neccessary evacuations. This is the info that helped our service members recieve aid during the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
Navy.mil
The official website of the United States NAVY. Lots of info. I like to occasionally type my sailors name into the search box and see if any news of him pops up. Found some great pictures of him and some of his shipmates that way during last deployment.
