Hi Jo and welcome!  You've come to the right place.  We have a great group of Moms here.  There is also a group of Mid-Michigan Moms too.  We understand everything you are going and will be going through.  Talk, talk, talk to us and write, write write to your son as much as possible during BC.

Thanks Colleen...I have been  on this site and learning a lot from it....it will be nice to have a wonderful support system for myself.  talk soon.

Hi Joanne, i'm Sarah. My son is currently at Great Lakes.  He arrived July 24th.  There are great videos connected to this site (youtube also) that show what happens at boot camp.  They show how they are processed and it helped me see what he is going through.  pull up youtube and type in navy boot camp to see them.  I light a candle daily and put out our flag.  Check out the new mom's section.

Take care,

Sarah

Hi Sarah,

I have watched some of the video already and they did help.  Our US and Navy flag are hanging with pride...I will have to check out the new mom's section.  Thanks for the welcome.

How is your son doing? have you been able to speak with him yet?

talk soon,

Jo

Hi Jo,

Yes, he called with that super short call they show in the video.  So I'm glad I was aware of that, otherwise I would have thought it was strange that he had to go so quickly.  The good news is..He sounded like he was smiling.  I know this is a challenge, but I think he needed this "right of passage".  I also received his box (all his things) a few days ago.. that was bittersweet.

Take Care!

Hello Cathy...

Sorry it took so long for me to reply...I just seen this post today...still getting use to this site...yes we are kind of neighbors lol...I also work in Saginaw and Midland...I am a market detective for Meijer and go to Northwood also... My ex husband got the short I am here call...I will not get a child in a box, cause Kyle said he was just going to throw his stuff away. ( He wore his old old stuff so it did not matter and he did not take his phone ) smart on his part and better for me cause it would have hit me hard....this week is getting better, but I do miss him very much and so do the dogs (lol) they keep going to his room.

Lets stand in touch with each other as we seem to be the only two that are from this area...

take care, chat soon...

Jo

PS what office did your son leave out of in Saginaw???
