Good morning I am in Imlay City and my Sailor left for BC in November of 2012. Things are going good for him. He is in Pensacola Fl. Enjoy the last summer with him and do as much as you can as a family. It was tough to get thru the time at boot camp and the holidays. I wrote to him almost everyday he was going thru BC. This website was a great help to me as I tried to prepare my self. There is probably a group on here it you can make one for the day he is leaving for BC.

Congrats to your son for joining the Navy, hockeymom. Join us in the main group and jump in anytime with questions. Lots of experienced moms in this group that can help. That first year is hard on us moms, but the sailor recruits do enjoy all the letters the family can send (can't send packages though). Then it's off to start their training for their Navy job and that can be pretty intense so you might not hear from your son as often. Cherish the boot camp letters and be sure to go to his graduation (PIR) at Great Lakes. Welcome to Michigan Moms.
