HI :)
Come join the Navy Moms MN site. There is a wonderful lady - Trina - who can answer many question you wil have.
But I can share some infomration.
1. MN A School is in CA. Ingelside is closed.
2. My sailor is serving now as a MN and stationed in Japan.
It's best that you join up on the MN site and also - check and see if there is a N4Ms site of your state. This way you can get to know ohter moms close to you. i know this was not much - but join us. TLynn
Mineman "A" school is in Point Loma, CA just north of San Diego about 20-25 miles. It is basically 1 mile from the SD International Airport. From what my son tells me he loves the school but it is difficult. He told me about some of the things they have to learn and WOW. But you know what you and I would be so very proud of son/daughter.
Hi DCPierce....welcome. My son PIR was August of 09. He stayed in Great Lakes, across the street from basic, until Halloween. He got more liberty after PIR so got to spend some time in Chicago etc as the train station isnt far from base. Then he went to San Diego until he graduated mid-march. He is now stationed with T-Lynne and Gildas sons in Sasebo, Japan. The one thing I will tell you is that there are a lot of rumors in the Navy so dont believe anything until chief says so. The recruiting information probably hasnt been changed yet because it didnt change until Aug. 09. Best of luck.
My son PIR is 11/12/10 and he was told he will stay at Great Lakes for 2 weeks then go to Ca.? Does anyone know if this is correct? If he would have liberty around Thanksgiving I might try to stay and visit longer.
How long does all the training take? After it's over will he get any liberty to come home before he is stationed somewhere?
any info would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Debbie

Hi,

My son, Ryan, is at RTC in Great Lakes with PIR 12/21/12. He will be MN in SD. His RO also thought MN A School was still in Ingleside. I guess the recruiting information still hasn't been updated.

My son leaves for RTC on June 24th 2013 and was told he'd be going to Texas for MN A School...I'm guessing if it's closed, they'll send him to SD....We're all nervous....he's only 17....didnt think they would take him so fast. Wasn't supposed to go anywhere until Sept-Oct.....
