December Adoption. May The Force Be With You ....as in the United States Air Force

Photobucket

Yes, our "adoptees" are a small group this month (60 male and 3 female), but certainly not insignificant!

These guys are an aircraft maintenance group deployed in Afghanistan. Originally out of Little Rock, AK, they ship thousands of pounds of cargo and hundreds of troops all around Afghanistan. They recently started an FOB (Forward Operating Base) "drop-box". They give away more than half of the items received to the countless Marines and Army troops that they provide air-drops for.

My POC said that they are all real snack freaks and scary movie fiends! Having only just received a donated XBox 360 fro their chaplain!

Their wish list consists of most of the usual basics and some not-so-basics!

Here is the list:

+ Chewing gum
+ Girl Scout cookies
+ Wheat Thins - particularly Sun-dried Tomato Basil flavor
+ Beef Jerky - teriyaki/jacks links
+ Doritos
+ Nuts/Power Bars/Trail Mixes
+ Microwave single meals
+ Workout supplement powders - casein/creatin/protein
+ Instant drink mixes to put in water
+ Headphones - skull candy
+ Green socks - Long Army issue
+ Tan t-shirts - size medium-XL
+ Rifle cleaning kits for a .223 caliber
+ Any XBox 360 games
+ Scary DVDs
+ Assassins Creed 3 XBox 360
+ Any toiletries
+ Feminine hygiene products
+ Razors/Shaving foam
+ Anything fun and feminine for the ladies
+ Magazines/puzzles/books
+ Stationary

So come on Navy mom's, let's show the Air Force how much we appreciate them!

Have I got SCARY movies...........yes, I do!!!!! Bunches!!!!

I just bought my hubby the Assassins Creed 3 for Playstation. I'll pick up the one for Xbox. I'll add some other stuff as well.

What about pillowcases? Are they a go or a no?

We're having a New Year's wedding for our sailor, so I may not participate this time. I will follow the discussion though in hopes that others come through this time. Have a Merry Christmas all you Molly's Moms!

I looked in 3 stores, stood in line at another for 10 minutes to be told they were out of the Assassin's Creed 3 Xbox 360 game. I ordered it on Amazon as I walked out the door. It will be here in two days :)
I also got 30 packs of gum and 3# of chocolate Muscle Milk protein powder to send.

I have the Assassins Creed 3 XBox 360 game! It was delivered today! My oldest son gave me a link to buy the rifle cleaning kits but they were sold out. I checked Amazon and they were twice as much so I will have him look for another site. Can you ask the POC if they are for the AR 15? I didn't know if there was a difference in them or not. My son said the Otis ones were for military but I'd hate to buy something that wouldn't work for them.

Hey Sheryl, where are the pictures from the Southern NE Packing Party?  I looked and couldn't find them.

Some additional photos from the NE Packing Party - some of the items as we started sorting out everyone items, our recycle crew who blew through breaking down the trash and disposing of same - great job and finally our stash of boxes patiently awaiting their ship date.  The Post Office has been advised, warned that we have 78+ boxes going out 12/26 or 12/27 - I plan to take pictures of my time at the post office.  He just told me not to come at "noon" time.

Good morning ,
I just got an email from our POC Kevin he is really excited as he is getting an achievement medal for all his good work over there!
They have been super busy installing and wiring hatches to pressurize the C-130H and C-130H planes that they have the at present . He also says its getting cold at night , but the mountains surrounding the base ,look pretty with all the snow .

He did a one last shout out to everyone there for last minute shopping items ,just in case any of our moms are still looking for ideas .....
X BOX Games ...Far Cry 3
Call of Duty Black Ops 2
Halo 4
DVDS ....
Anything with Clint Eastwood or Liam Neison

Crystal light mix Raspberry Lemonade
Snack Chips.....
Doritos
Cheetos
Sun Chips
Wheat Thins
Mac n cheese. Microwaveable ..
Candy ....

I know I've got another 15 boxes here to add to the mountain the New England moms did last Saturday .

We joked about him needing a hangar clear of any planes for the amount of goodies that they are going to be getting .
Hope you are all having fun shopping for the Air Force . Thank you from me and Kevin always says he can't thank everyone enough :)

He doesn't even know what is coming and that is the fun part! I always want to be a fly on the wall when they get all the boxes!

So I keep in touch with Kevin , my POC . I told him he needed to ask for some extra space in the hangar , or maybe the whole hangar .particularly if everyone has packing parties that are as successful as the New England one !

I'd sent over the game RISK and he thinks world war 3 may break out , if they don't all start playing the same rules. It's gotten so bad that they are having other units come through and want to " play " befor they shower and eat .
I told him it was nice to see they are still kids at heart despite where they are :)

You are so right Sheryl ... They are just very big kids at heart.  Kind of nice how they bring out the kids in US!!  :)

Sheryl had been asking our adoptees if there was anything special/in particular they waited or needed.  She was informed that they would like the game RISK.  So Shery went out and purchased the game and off it went.  They received this special package in 5 days - WOW.  Enjoy pics of the group enjoying some downtime - they are still "kids" at heart.
