January + Adoption........It is going to be big !!!!!!!

MOTTO: “GUNG HO” was the Battle Cry of the Second Raider Battalion and the Motto of USS MAKIN ISLAND (CVE 93). “Gung Ho” translated means “Work Together”.

Being a Fast Attack momma I really knew nothing about the Makin Island, but doing a little research I found that their motto :GUNG HO” meant work together, I thought that since we as Molly moms would fail if we did not “Gung Ho” it would be a great battle cry for us.

So let’s GUNG HO into the NEW YEAR together. Since the size of the group is extra large, we will not be shipping till the middle of Feb. Since the timing will not be making any special holiday I thought that we could just make it a "All Things New" packing Whether it is a new snack or new game or something new to learn.

This is the wish list that was provided to me..... BE AWARE there might be a little special request coming soon....

They stay pretty strict with regulations so there will be no pillow cases shipped with this adoption....

Any other Ideas, PLEASE bring them on........I'm still waiting on a head count of men women marines

Also they are in need of Children's books that they can use for the United in Reading program. This is where the parents read a book while being recorded and then send the DVD and book to the child....what a get way to be a parent while away.

Wouldn't you think that with all the postage the MAS moms buy, the Post Office would be able to lower the cost of a stamp instead of raise it??

Yes, MAS is doing our share to help the post office. On March 1, I had 80 boxes picked up by the PO. When she pulled into the driveway, I went out and asked if she wanted me to help her load them. She said, "Oh no, this is my job and we appreciate the business!" So I gave her a box of candy and called her supervisor to praise her attitude.

Last month was my first time helping out at a packing party.  It was one of the most fun and rewarding experiences I've had!!!  Getting together with some friends next week to put together a "box of love" for this month's adoption.

            This is Airman XXXXX from the USS Makin Island.  I just wanted to thank you all for the care packages that we received they were all so nice.  All the letters from the kids we got to read and they were so nice.  Thank you for taking the time to put all the packages together.  In 3 more months we will be done with this deployment hopefully.  Have to get back to work but just wanted to say thank you.

I just wanted to say thank you for the package you sent!! The guys (and girls) enjoyed it. We are currently on a 7 month deployment and we all appreciate everything everyone does to let us know we are thought of. Some of the books you sent in the package made me laugh because I haven’t seen them since I was a kid and that’s a very long time ago.

I just wanted to write a note and thank you for the care packages. I am a critical care nurse assigned with the Fleet Surgical Team aboard the USS Makin Island. We received your packages and were able to hand out the goodie bags to a bunch of the sailors and marines on board. They were very grateful and thankful to you, and I wanted to make sure to let you know that. Thank you so much for thinking about us and putting the time into making these packages. It’s always nice to have a little piece of home when we’re so far away from our families. Thank you again…
