Ringing in the New Year with Love -
January 2015 Adoption –USS Dewey (DDG 105)
I
January we will be starting off the New Year adopting the approximately 300 sailors serving aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Dewey (DDG 105). Dewey is deployed in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations supporting Operation Inherent Resolve, strike operations in Iraq and Syria as directed, maritime security operations, and theater security cooperation efforts in the region.
I got feedback from the ship and so far they have requested the following:
- Food
- Personal Hygiene
- Current Magazines
- Entertainment
Our theme for this adoption will be “March Madness.” So be creative and see what you can come up with!!

Yes, Pillow cases are a go. Thank you for reminding me!
Happy New Year
I'm in! What's the breakdown for male and female? I'll get the list for pillowcases going!
Pretty sure 250 males & 50 females.
Thanks Pat!
What shipping date are we going for?
Hi Donna,
My parish is having a packing party on January 17th. The bake sale will be on the week prior, January 10th & 11th, so I will know then how much money we have to purchase items for the USS Dewey. I will touch base with you before we shop to make sure we get the items you need.
Thank you for being the mom of the month!
Hi Laura,
That sounds like a plan. Good luck at your bake sale.
Thank you,
donna :)
