OK. Looks like some people have responded to our March link, maybe not knowing this discussion thread is here. Two nights ago, I emailed all the major league baseball teams. I gave a brief description or who we were and what we were looking for. I have heard from 5 teams so far. The Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles are sending me things. The Washington Nationals and the NY Yankees both told me the same thing:
please submit your request in writing, on organizational letterhead, and include the date, time, description and contact name, number and address for the event. E-mail requests will not be considered for donations. Requests must be received at least four weeks prior to the event to be considered.
I can forward to you the actual emails if you would like.
The Kansas City Royals just flat out refused saying they get too many requests and unfortunately could not donate anything. So that's it so far. Out of all the teams, only responses from 5 so far.
Cheryl, I got the same thing about submitting your request, blah, blah, blah... . But then I realized it was for an event. If you want to go back to the Washington Nationals and ask for just a postcard and logo sticker I can get you their phone #. I already pulled this on the Yankees, but I said how both the Red Sox and Orioles were getting me the items & hoped they would reconsider since we'd like all the teams represented in the scrapbook. You know, just play one off another. Works fairly well with city rivalries...
Since you got the Tigers do you want #'s or addys for the 2 teams in Chicago?? Let me know. I've got my list of teams and contact info ready to go.
Oh Cheryl, don't be discouraged. I worked as a fund-raiser and was always asking for things & I learned early on that a phone call followed up by an email or letter usually gets a better response. So besides the Mud Hens who else do you want??
How about the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds? I will PM you with their addresses and phone #s.
I will also send you the info I have on the Washington Nationals. Ask for Community Relations or Public Affairs Dept. & just start with asking for a postcard and clear team logo sticker for a scrapbook. They almost always respond "Is that it??" I tell them that is what we need, but if they'd like to send some fun things for our boxes that would be great!
You can always mention (if they hesitate) that we have commitments from the Orioles, Red Sox, Tigers, Mariners and NY Mets. And then say how we would hate to have to leave them out... You can play on their rivalries & do NOT feel guilty about doing it either. It is kind of fun actually.
