Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY

Wanted to start a group for moms, dads, and other family members that have Nukes currently attending Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY.

Members: 170

Thought I would start a group for the families of sailors stationed in NY for Prototype. It will be nice to chat about what is going on with our sailors whether it is good or bad so that we can support each other. I have connected with many people on this site but it is always nice to meet others that are going through the same things together. Also if you have had a sailor in NY for an extended amount of time then you can help the new ones just coming in on what to expect.

I believe he listed SD, then one of the washingtons then I think VA, Japan & then the other Washington was last. I might have the VA & Japan switched though but they were in the middle! He's ok with it. His roommate got Norfolk too but different ship. At least they'll be there together.

B'sNukeMom, may I ask what order your son listed his choices in?  I remember you said San Diego was his number one choice.  How is he feeling about Norfolk?

At least his drive from BS won't be as long as he feared.  :-)

B'snukemom, glad to hear you will coming out. Looking forward to seeing you again. I'm flying into Albany on 1/22. I got a really good price. Hopefully they will be hearing something soon

Hey Mommamac - I'm planning on attending.  Hubby doesn't know for sure yet if he will be able to.  Got a text from B last night and still no orders :(  The plan is (hopefully) for me to go and then road trip back with him.  Of course it will depend on where the orders are for!  I hope we find out sooner rather than later so I can get my flight booked!

B'sNukeMoM, are you going to come our for the boys graduation? I'm planning on attending but not sure if they get their orders when they would be leaving Ballston Spa. I was thinking the same thing though about helping him with the drive. Hopefully we will hear something soon.

Oh and yes, it will be a long drive - that's why we are hoping that I can road trip with him.  He figures with 2 of us we can cut the time way down and it won't be as boring.  That way he doesn't use up as much of his leave time.

I'm guessing your son is sub?  Mine is carrier.  There's only 5 locations for carriers: San Diego, 2 in Washington state, VA and Japan.  He  listed all 5 in the order he would want them.  He joked & said "I'm sure once we turned in our dream sheets they probably said 'That's nice' and threw them in the trash" LOL.  I don't know too much about subs but I have heard that they have a lot more locations to choose from.

My son picked east coast for his first three choices.  While we're in the "mid-west" we're still closer to the east coast than west coast, but  not close to either.  He didn't pick the location I would have chosen for him first though (drat).  :-)

It will be a very, very long drive for your son, if he'll go from Ballston Spa to southern (?) California.
