Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY

Wanted to start a group for moms, dads, and other family members that have Nukes currently attending Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY.

Thought I would start a group for the families of sailors stationed in NY for Prototype. It will be nice to chat about what is going on with our sailors whether it is good or bad so that we can support each other. I have connected with many people on this site but it is always nice to meet others that are going through the same things together. Also if you have had a sailor in NY for an extended amount of time then you can help the new ones just coming in on what to expect.

Alright, so my husband is in GC half way through power school. We have heard that al wire rates are going to NY. Is there any truth to this? So my we heard and when you "officially" here. You have no time to prepare. If this is true where can a family of 3 live up there?

Thanks Jeanne and Terry! I'll post when we find out one way or another. I think its funny that Aaron might end up at Oregon State University after all.... we did 2 campus visits and Aaron wanted to do the Nuclear engineering program there. We encouraged him to apply for scholarships we dragged him to the ROTC table.... but he kept putting it off until it was too late and he was looking at a 32,000 a year cost.....
He now says it worked out for the best, he was no way ready for college then,, he has learned how to study and how to get his work done and is more disciplined and ready to go now!

If Aaron gets picked up for the STA-21 program it would be a total of at least 6 yrs before he gets to the fleet.....He'd go to college for 3 yrs and then back through the Nuke pipeline on the Officer side.... Aaron said it has its positives and negatives. We should know in about a month or so! This waiting is killing me :) Aaron seems to be fine though.

oh my Terry! I hadn't t heard anything from my Aaron, but I asked last night after reading these comments, He said his site has been down also...He is on his 4 day off so he's visiting his Grandma in PA at the moment :) So nice that he is getting to know that side of the family a little more.... we don't get back east very often.

Hi Terry -
I got a text from my Aaron, He said he passed, but a lot of people did not. It sounds like it was a hard test!
Gail - so nice that you got to have Eric home for a bit!

FYI there is a discussion started on the NUKE Moms group for everyone with Sailors who started prototype 7/26 - both B.S. and Charleston locations.

@kim-
supposedly there isn't any - several sailors get called into a room at a time and get their papers (orders) and pins.

we hope to visit our son before his non - "graduation" - just to catch him while he's still in the area
