Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY

Wanted to start a group for moms, dads, and other family members that have Nukes currently attending Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY.

Thought I would start a group for the families of sailors stationed in NY for Prototype. It will be nice to chat about what is going on with our sailors whether it is good or bad so that we can support each other. I have connected with many people on this site but it is always nice to meet others that are going through the same things together. Also if you have had a sailor in NY for an extended amount of time then you can help the new ones just coming in on what to expect.

Popeye's Mom - Thanks for the Lake George tip. I have been trying to find polish bologna like I had when I was a kid. I'll try to check that out if I get out there to visit my son.

Hi Ginny-

If you like Polish & continental food and want to see Lake George area (slightly north of there) look up http://www.taste-of-poland.com/

I found them for my son's B'day. They've recently relocated so make sure you -read carefully. Their new phone number is 1-518-727-3114 -they answer in Polish - don't be fazed...

To Lorraine -

I agree that the flat rate boxes are a great deal - however, I have to ship an odd shaped, longer and thin, painting to him (by his brother) and as far as I know once you ship this way prices jump for all shippers except Greyhound.

Thanks to everybody who replied.

I work for the Post Office and I haven't had to process a claim for damages in years. The people I serve have nothing but good things to say about our service. I live in the country and FedEx never seems to be able to leave anything without a signature which is very inconvenient for me.

To Popeye's Mom - why not the Post Office? Usually there is one conveniently located and with better pick up hours than the other two. Also, the flat rate boxes are a great deal for shipping to your sailor. The Post Office knows the addresses better and keep up with who's there etc. If packages can be left safely, they will leave them. Use insured for valuables, delivery confirmation if you just want to know when it gets delivered.

Hi-
Does anyone know if Fedex or UPS is better to ship with to people
in Saratoga Springs area?

What I mean is, son always missed daytime home deliveries in Goose Creek and had to go to depots - Fedex was only 5 minute away - UPS was a 45 min drive to go pick up

thanks

Oh Good Jeanne!
It sounds like Aaron's interview went well. Now we wait for the selection committee, we will know in Oct or early Nov. if he made it or not.
