While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Wanted to start a group for moms, dads, and other family members that have Nukes currently attending Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY.

Thought I would start a group for the families of sailors stationed in NY for Prototype. It will be nice to chat about what is going on with our sailors whether it is good or bad so that we can support each other. I have connected with many people on this site but it is always nice to meet others that are going through the same things together. Also if you have had a sailor in NY for an extended amount of time then you can help the new ones just coming in on what to expect.

Like Wendy asked - will this be something that is class specific or would I be able to get one down the line when my son finishes?

I will also talk to a couple parents of other Nukes rooming with my son too. They are class 1304 though. Is that part of what will be engraved in the front or the back?

Comment by ktrsb CVN-75 on January 10, 2014 at 10:31am: OK, I have decided I am going to have a set of 50 struck. They will come to me, and then I will ship to anyone who wants. I think I will be able to do paypal.They will be more expensive than the stock coins at NTM. I have ordered several stock coins over the years, they are high-quality, and my son carries one (Armor of God) in his wallet.

They will have a design on front, and an engraveable space on the back. You will have to have a local jeweler or gift shop custom engrave it should you wish. They will not be available any earlier than February. I will continue to update as I firm up the artwork and production schedule.

Thanks, all, and I hope this is not inappropriate for the forum. I am not looking to make any money off of it, nor do I even expect to recoup all of the costs. But my sailor is worth it even if I keep all of them.

On the Nuke Mom's site I started a discussion on Challenge Coins and Craig chimed in and was discussing the possibility of making a specific coin representing the pipeline. He was asking various questions and trying to learn the nuc lingo.

I for one would be interested but have a ways to go still - my sailor is just getting ready to start proto.
