Thought I would start a group for the families of sailors stationed in NY for Prototype. It will be nice to chat about what is going on with our sailors whether it is good or bad so that we can support each other. I have connected with many people on this site but it is always nice to meet others that are going through the same things together. Also if you have had a sailor in NY for an extended amount of time then you can help the new ones just coming in on what to expect.

I was looking at apts over the weekend - seems like there's a lot in Saratoga Springs but they are a little on the expensive side. Son said they are going to start a more serious search this weekend......I guess there's 6 of them that want to rent near each other (2 each and they want to be in the same apt complex).
@OkSuzy - I tried to find the "Marketplace" but couldn't find anything by that name.
Our Son left BS less than a week ago for Washington...He shared a place with a few others at a place called "Marketplace" I believe...I think it was over top of a shop...or there were shops on the ground floor. Sorry I don't have much more info than that. All I know is that we are from Florida and it was quite cold there! Good Luck!
Son has been told "unofficially" that he will be going to BS. Now to secure housing and prepare this California boy for a winter in NY - LOL!
I see there is a discussion above for Apartments in BS. Looking for any advice you might have for areas to look at (and stay away from!)
hello, all... i am wondering.... awhile back there was talk of someone in or near goose creek, sc that makes cakes. my son's bday is 11/23 and i was hoping someone here would know how to contact the "cakemaker" would love to surprise my son with a homemade cake!
In case you may not know, Southwest airlines has great fares for active duty military! I just booked a trip for my LO to come in for thanksgiving:-)....the flight is a really good one too! All you need to do is telephone them.
Off to Goose Creek for graduation this weekend! Soon my son will be in Ballston Spa with his 3 buddies. I hope grad hold isn't too long for them. He is a MM as well. Nice to have a group for this school as well.
PattiP - My son also got there in May and started training in July. He's in a house with 2 others and they are all "learning to cook" LOL Wonder if they know one another. Mine's an MM
My son is set to graduate from Goose Creek and head to Ballston Spa next month. He and 3 of his buddies are getting a house, and they are excited to be staying together. I will be going to his graduation and then bringing him home for just over a week. What a ride this is! I'm so proud of all our sailors for their commitment and devotion to this tough program.
BlueRockSailorMom, that is so exciting that you will be seeing your son soon! Mine says he hasn't heard any dates yet. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed!
