For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Thought I would start a group for the families of sailors stationed in NY for Prototype. It will be nice to chat about what is going on with our sailors whether it is good or bad so that we can support each other. I have connected with many people on this site but it is always nice to meet others that are going through the same things together. Also if you have had a sailor in NY for an extended amount of time then you can help the new ones just coming in on what to expect.

Welcome Jennifer! Fine with me! Come on in. My son has been in BS for over a year. After Proto he did ELT and now he's staff. BS is so beautiful. I bet your son will love it too.

We met our son's roommate over the weekend- last name starts with a Z and is from Washington.. Hope his parents are on this site. Just wanted to say he is a wonderful young man! Glad we got to meet him and he was a good sport putting up with us hanging out in their apartment!

jelaine3-my son just moved into the Ellsworth Commons apartments- we visited him over this last weekend and the apartments are beautiful!

My son is the one that found a trailer park that is about 100 yards from the 1st guard shack on base. The same owner (of the trailer park) (thinking it is around 429 Atomic Project Rd. or thereabouts) has three different rentals there. If you go to googlemaps.com and find the trailer park just down the street from the plant, you will be able to check it out. Then if you are creative and do some digging, you can find the owners and give them a call to see if they have any openings. The 2-bedroom unit is really nice; the 3-bedroom one is a little older and my son wished he would have taken the 2 bedroom one rather than the 3 bedroom one (with two other roommates).

Does anyone know how many travel and house hunting days they get when they transfer from Goose Creek to Ballston Spa? I thought I saw it on here before but couldn't find it. Thank you :)
