Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY

Wanted to start a group for moms, dads, and other family members that have Nukes currently attending Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY.

Members: 169

Thought I would start a group for the families of sailors stationed in NY for Prototype. It will be nice to chat about what is going on with our sailors whether it is good or bad so that we can support each other. I have connected with many people on this site but it is always nice to meet others that are going through the same things together. Also if you have had a sailor in NY for an extended amount of time then you can help the new ones just coming in on what to expect.

MR88, my son too!  Penny and I have finally determined our sailors's are in different buildings.  How about yours?  My sailor and his wife just moved on base a few wks ago once he got picked up for staff.  It would be awesome if you met my DIL.

MR88, my son was just picked up for staff out of his MM 11/29 graduating class as well.  He's a single guy and, coming from Washington State, loves the weather up there.

Hey! I'm new to the group, but not exactly 'new' to NY. My husband graduated power school on March 30 and we arrived in NY on June 1st. I wasn't going to join this group, but my husband was picked up for staff, so it looks like we'll be staying :) We live on base, but hoping to change that asap!

Found on my son's FB posting: "So the staff has decided I'm one of the 4 best mechanics in my class (best two in my section) and I'll be staying in NY for the next couple years to teach young nuclear operators." I want to stand up and shout how proud I am of this kid. Bravo Zulu, John.

My son graduated from prototype on Sept 28.  His certificate got exchanged with Kevin D_____, who is an MM and will attend ELT.  If anyone knows who he is please let me know so that I can try to get the certificates where they belong.

Happy Nuke mom here!  My son graduated from his ELT training last week and is leaving BS for good this weekend.  Will be home for almost a month, then off to Pearl Harbor.  It's been nearly a year since he's been home--it will be so strange, but so great.

There is a light at the end of the training!  Really.  :)
