Moms/Dads/Families with Nukes in Ballston Spa, NY

Wanted to start a group for moms, dads, and other family members that have Nukes currently attending Prototype in Ballston Spa, NY.

Thought I would start a group for the families of sailors stationed in NY for Prototype. It will be nice to chat about what is going on with our sailors whether it is good or bad so that we can support each other. I have connected with many people on this site but it is always nice to meet others that are going through the same things together. Also if you have had a sailor in NY for an extended amount of time then you can help the new ones just coming in on what to expect.

And we live in CA so San Diego was first on his list, but we know that it is a long shot!

My son said he would find out either today or this week for sure what his orders will be.  He graduates prototype on 1/23.

When do they find out where the go after prototype graduation?  My son told me they had turned in their "dream sheet", but that was about all info I got.  :-)  He said that they were discouraged from picking San Diego and Japan -- maybe because many chooses those?

My son said they are still waiting for a definitive answer on that Cerise.  He's heard different things so far but nothing conclusive.  Luckily he doesn't have a whole apartment of furniture, but just a few things that he doesn't mind parting with!  Once he gets his orders he's hoping maybe he can pack up a couple boxes of personal items & ship them home (to CA) so there's more room in his car.

Does the Navy pay for anything to be moved, like furniture etc?  My husband thought they did, but then again he got out in 90's and was an officer.

If anyone has a sailor heading to Ballston Spa for proto and is looking for some bedroom furniture and a TV (very reasonably priced!) let me know.  My son graduates proto 1/23 and will be leaving and doesn't have room to take them in his car.....I can get more info and pictures if anyone is interested.

The graduation is always worth going to. Is this from Protoype? It's small and is a great way to get up and personal. I got my tickets and found out that he was leaving before me to come home bi had a day or so to hang out in Saratoga Springs and wander around. It is a great little town!

I heard from our son today, he's looking forward to receiving his next orders. I'm going up for his graduation on 1/23. He said they will be moving as soon as graduation is over, now I'm rethinking my plans. Maybe I should have waited to buy my tickets. Hopefully he will get yo head home for a break before he starts the next chapter.

Ah Penny - that would be great!  Too bad his graduation isn't until 1/23 though.  I am thinking about doing the same thing - flying in for graduation and then driving back to SoCal with him (providing he gets West Coast or Japan orders).  If he gets VA he will drive (himself) to VA & then fly home to CA for a visit.  Either way he says he's leaving as soon as graduation is over!  Hubby is trying to decide if he can at least fly in for grad too.....oh well, we should know more this week and then can decide what to do.....the suspense is killing me LOL!

Now if only he was ready to go by 1/6 and has orders for the Nimitz in WA State, he could caravan back with my son and I.  I will be there on the evening of the 5th to finish packing my son up and then coming across the US (did I mention in the dead of winter??).
