OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Question's about Swim School
I hope this is the right place to be. PIR was 5/16/14. My son is in Pensacola and has just finished aviation school. He starts rescue swim school after the holiday. My son is very tall. He does very well with swim, run and sit ups. Since he is so tall, has very long arms and is over 200 pounds the pull ups are very hard for him. Has anyone else had a son or daughter with this problem? He is working so hard and has done so well on everything else.

yes, my Son is a tall slender one too. Certain parts of the pt was really difficult. In order to gain strength your Son must train regularly working on the weakness. He can do it just must be motivated and the I can attitude. Part of this program is physical strength, but a great deal is mental. They try to break them mentally!!!!! Be strong, supportive and patient this is a tough program!!!

Thank you. It's good to know others are experiencing the same thing. He is very motivated and tries really hard at everything he does. I know the mental is harder than the physical. I keep telling him how proud we are of him. Sometimes its just hard to let go. I visited him the weekend after his birthday. It was so good to see him. I miss him so much. Thanks again for your encouragement.

My son is in the same class with yours :) he would have graduated next week with his class but got hurt the first week of ACC and had to wait to class back up. We have a friend who was an RS also and he was 6'8" still to this day I believe the tallest to have gone through. For him he struggled with the pull ups and swimming but the instructors saw the determination and they worked with him. He had to be taught a different technique on how to swim because he was just so tall. My son is about 6'2 about 195lbs so he has been one of the taller ones also. It's all attitude and the instructors will see that. I think our friend told us he was only able to ever get the minimum of 4 pull ups but he passed. All we can be is supportive because this is a long bumpy road ahead :). -

Thank you so much. It's great to know you have a son in the same class. (-: My son is 6'5" 215 pounds. He was in track in high school so he has the strength in his legs. He actually has done great with the swimming. I think his arms being so long has made it difficult to pull that much weight up that far. He is very determined to do everything he can to succeed. Wow, your friend was 6'8". That's encouraging. I appreciate your help and comforting words. (-:

Sounds like our boys might also be around the same age :) mine did water polo and swim in high school so he obviously loves the water. Yeah the taller ones have it harder because they typically weigh more but also have a lot longer to go to pull their bodies up and over those bars. Did you go for the ACC graduation? My ex and younger son went and are there now. We went at the beginning of June to help get him a car but we will definitely be going in Aug for RSS graduation. Our friend is planning on surprising our son by showing up at his graduation. We can't wait :)

I did not go to ACC graduation. I was there the weekend of June 14th to celebrate his birthday. My ex was there last weekend and brought him his truck. Having transportation has really helped. I'm going in for another foot operation July 29th. I'm hoping to go to RSS graduation in August. I may need a friend to drive. Although I live in Florida, I'm still 7.5 hours away. Aww, your son will be excited at the surprise visit at graduation. (-:

Word of advise don't miss the RSS graduation!!!! It's really something to see and from that point on it varies with the squadrons what type of graduation they will have. Disappointed not much ceremony was put into my Son's winging his squadron was on deployment at the time! Good luck to all it's a long hard road.

Hi, I'm new here. My son is graduating this week from RSS. Can anyone give me any info on graduation? How early to get to base? Any ID other than drivers license? Is there a list of attendees like there was for boot camp grad? I assume someone at gate will know where we should go from there? Trying not to bug my son with too many questions - busy week for these guys and girls. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
