I just talked to Shawn....PROUD MOMENT here....he just completed his NATOPS flight and aced it with a 4.0 score, out of a possible 4.0. He is very relieved, he has one last flight tomorrow and will be NATOPS certified by the 30th and said his grad date is also the 9th. He said he thinks they are going to graduate them all together. How great! If this goes as planned...I will be there for Greg's graduation too. I will be the Navy Mom representative. I will be there for you Chris, if you can't be.

At least that is the news for this day....it could all change tomorrow. I will let you know too if anything changes.

Beth proud mom of Garrett- thanks I think I needed that. With all the ups and downs of the last few weeks, it's been difficult. I talked to my sailor last night, he said his flight was cancelled yesterday due to weather over the ocean. I'm a very proud Navy Mom and sometimes it is difficult to find the right words of encouragement but just that I talk to him regularly seems to help. He's almost there. Thank you again for the well wishes and prayers!

Chris, yes Shawn's graduation date got pushed back too...at least for now it did until the 9th. However he is still unsure if it will be with wings as they are saying they are unsure if they will get their final 3 flights in by the 30th due to budget constraints. Seems an ever changing story...not sure how this will play out. I was so excited and now just confused by it all. As it stands I cannot make flight arrangements until I know for sure...and who knows when that will be. It's a good thing I have a job I can get away from easily enough. Sorry to hear about Greg's grad date getting pushed back, and not able to have the rest of the family in attendance. Gotta love the Military!

Hi all, I know I read somewhere back (but couldn't find) so I'll ask these questions as I'm sure others with sons and daughters that are getting ready to pass phase II and will be allowed to get civilian clothes and laptops sent to them... "What is the best way to send them things?? Where to get boxes?? What / How to send them?? Things to avoid??" Any tidbits of advice would be welcome :0)

Hey everyone, I just posted this on USN Search and Rescue, but I wanted to let you know that I just got word that Shawn may graduate FRAC on Oct. 2nd. The really great news is he passed his written, written open book and oral exams. He only needs 3 more flights and he is NATOPS certified, should be by the 30th, which they tell him means he will graduate WITH wings !!! I'm so excited...I can't wait. That is the news today....hopefully it doesn't change.

Kari, I was going to tell him what you said about the oral exam, but he took it today. He had a flight yesterday and they told them they wouldn't have the oral portion today....surprise, they did. He passed but said he was really nervous and still is. He only has the 3 flights left but still is stressed and hoping for it all to be over soon. I'm so proud!! Yeah, I may still get to pin his wings on!!

Skype is a program you can put on your computer that enables you to have video chats with others that have skype and a camera hooked up to their computer. It is totally awesome because it not only lets you talk to the person but see them also. Each person just needs one of those little video cameras hooked up to their computer and the skype program installed. Some laptops now even come with video cameras built right in and skype already installed!

Wow Sara, sounds like you've been through a whole range of emotions. I am glad that you got to see him before he deployed. I'm not sure how I would handle the sudden onset of deployment. Please stay here with our group. We will be as supportive to you as we can. My son is still in training and I know he can't wait til he gets to put all that training to use. Your son is putting all his training to use now. Please let us know how he is doing and how you are coping.

Hey guys! Yes, I do remember how upset I was when he left and I'm feeling much better. He's now called me 3 days in a row - what I disliked so much about Boot Camp is the lack of communication. I feel like I have a son again! He's on hold right now but they're definitely treating them right in Pensacola. Guess what he had to eat yesterday? Crab legs and steak. Wow, what a meal - he's going to get spoiled!

Texas Mom of 2 - that was really funny! I can understand how you wouldn't be able to recognize your own son...they all look alike when their heads are shaved and all wearing the same uniform. Congratulations to you and your son. Those are proud moments when they graduate. My son is in SD almost complete with FRAC, should graduate in mid October. Can't wait to see him.
