While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Melissa on March 12, 2014 at 6:24pm: I wouldn't worry too much Jodi - your son is in Jax and mine is in SD. The real issue is that his class members went on med hold and hold for an extended time and now that they are back two of them keep failing flights so my son who didn't go on hold or fail any flights is finished but his classmates are not. Not really anyone's fault, but frustrating all the same. The other issue comes with requesting billets - they don't want to request a single billet but they have to make sure the next class is ready for grad before they can request for them so even if he graduates he can't go any where without a billet. And round and round we go!

Anywho - safe travels and enjoy your visit with your son. Congratulations to all of you!

We are currently sitting in Detroit waiting for our connecting flight to Jacksonville. He is finishing up the last few tests. I hope nothing keeps him from graduating.

Okay, here we go again. Gotta love TPTB in the Navy - my son flew last night so could not fly his final flight this morning so he's not graduating on Friday. It's enough to make you pull your hair out! The current plan is that he will graduate with the next class to come up - unless his class gets their stuff together and quits failing flights and catches up with him. At this point I'm not sure he'll ever graduate!

Eaglemom..... I agree with Sweetpea (HII SWEETPEA) go if you can go!!!!! I was unable too as I was here in TX fighting cancer with my husband and we just could not go... I did have a friend go in my place and take pix and video BUT it was still not the same!!!! So if at all possible GO!!!

I know we have RSS in their final week before Finals!! Praying sooooooooo hard for them!!!! hoooooahhhhhh !

Comment by airmom10 on March 10, 2014 at 10:15pm: Proudmama - when we stayed at the Navy Lodge we were able to walk down to the beach - the Holiday Inn Express was about 3 miles away, but a straight drive to the base. My son is in San Diego now and hoping to graduate FRS the end of May or June. We are planning to go out there although since we don't have a definite date of graduation we have to just plan and hope for the best. Where did you stay out there?

Airmom10-Did you stay at the holiday Inn express right next to base? How is the area? How was the hotel? Did you have access to the beach from the hotel or only from on base?

Comment by Melissa on March 10, 2014 at 6:37pm: Spoke with my son this afternoon and on the plus side he graduates FRS on Friday! Yeah. However that means I can't go. :( I am so bummed to miss this one though I am glad they are letting him graduate and not putting him on hold until the rest of his class catches up. He will still be in San Diego for a bit though because he doesn't have a billet - if they request just one for him, he has to take it regardless of where it is - so they are going to wait until they have the next class ready and request one for him also and then give him the choice.
In the meantime he gets to hang out in San Diego and do flights and help out in the schoolhouse.

Comment by airmom10 on March 9, 2014 at 8:11pm: A's Mom - We've stayed at both the Holiday Express and the Navy Lodge. Both were nice, but if you can get in at the Navy Lodge it's the best! You're on base and can walk to the beach from your room - really nice and, of course, cheaper.
