Lydia- Thanks so much for the explanation...yesterday was a tough day for the RSS class... honestly, my nerves are raw. I can't wait for this week to be over. Geesh!

Saltyocean....   the Honormen Award is given to the student--- and not every class....  that is in RSS...sometimes it can be YEARS before one is awarded my son got it and there had not been one awarded for almost 4 years prior........  to the RSS class Sailor who gets no fails, no chits and shows Team Work and Leadership..  It is not awarded easily for sure...  ( fyi.....a chit is like a free pass when a kid does something wrong during a daily workout etcc.. before they fail them... or roll them...)  OH and btw... most kids get one or two during the RSS pipeline.. it is NO shame...  it is just what the instructors give to them to sort of warn them... no problem there!!!!

Momof4 kewl.... that you and BusyMom13 are together in this BC pipeline!!!!   Yall be sure and go up to the Discussion Forum up above this box and read the Path and Phases... it will help you after Boot Camp with some basic Pipeline questions....  welcome welcome to ALL newbies...  moms, girlfriends etc!!!!!  xoxoxo

snowskiier.....   you can find out his ship address and send him care packages..  Each ship usually has a Face Book Ombudsman page... however, to get their emails, the sailor has to sign you up for it...  I wish I could help you more and I don't understand why he cut your family off just because of marriage... if you are in comm with his wife, she can give you his address once deployed!!  I am praying for good things to come for yall!!!!

C's...  well, I can only say this...  the longer the hold... the more time he will have to prepare for what is ahead of him .. and believe me, that can be a blessing for sure...  but it can be frustrating for sure also!!!!!  sheeeesh  however that is not a bad hold time... for my son it was 3 months hold to start NACCS and then 6 weeks hold for RSS...  some have waiting even longer I am hearing!  just remind him and I know you are....   to use the time wisely... soon he will be in the whirlwind !!!

Bays... so glad you had a GREAT time!!!!   xoxoxox

love yall.......   thinking and praying for each one of us mammas and our kids....  hardest job in the world, a mom of a military child!!!!!

Just a question to fill in a lot of blanks.....What is Honorman? Is it from rrs or A school?

Momof4, I have one in BC in DIV 811.

Snowskiier- I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I pray that communication with your son will be restored soon. I read your post and felt your heartache. I wish I had some piece of advice as to how to find your son. I can say-I care.

Bayswan- THANK YOU!!!! It was so fun to see the pic of my son's class:) For those of you who don't know- a mom whose son recently graduated from rescue swimmer school-took a pic of the current class in training while she was on her way to her son's graduation. Bayswan continued this by taking a picture of the class in training while she was on her way to her son's graduation. Should I find myself in the same situation, I promise to take a picture of the current RSS class and pay it forward.

MoAngel-Wow! Record breaking buddy tow! Congrats to your son:)

C's mom-yes... hurry up and wait... is definitely the name of the game! Hang in there! Hopefully, he will be able to look at the "glass half full" and use this time to work out and beef up so that he is fully prepared during some of the more demanding portions of the pipeline:)

Momof4-Welcome!! Best wishes to your SR during bc:)

Moangel - congratulations to your son on breaking the 800 buddy tow record. My son holds the SAR mile record, so yours is in good company! :)
I attended my newest grandson's baptism this weekend and had a great family visit which included all 4 of my little boys - they are such a special treat for this Grammy! And everyone is back to full health, so yeah!
It was below freezing there with no snow and I returned home to above freezing temps with snow - not sure which is worse.
Here's hoping everyone is staying warm!

Just spoke with my son....still on hold :(  I was so hoping for a moving forward update (arrived in Pensacola from GL 2/8/2014)

Thank you Lydia and proudmomma.  He broke the 800 meter buddy tow record! Exciting!

Bayswan - thank you also.  I sent you my email address.  Not sure when you are headed home, but you all got a bunch of snow and it's still coming down.  We got ice, sleet, and snow earlier, and are supposed to get a lot more snow tonight.  Already canceled school for tomorrow so I will be lounging.

Thank you everyone for the warm wishes and congratulations for our son.  He has had a great experience so far and yes, he did get the Honorman knife.

MoAngel - Congrats to your son on breaking the 800 buddy tow record!  That is great.  Remember to send me your email address and I'll send some pics.

I have one pic of the current B team I will share with anyone who has a swimmer in RSS now.  Send me a friend request and your email address.

We are preparing to leave sunny and beautiful Pensacola in the morning and head back to the great white north.  Wish I could stay until April, might be safe to go back home then!  Stay warm everyone :-)

snowskiier, I can't help you on that but I wanted to tell you how sorry I am that this has happened to you and your family. It is sad when that happens ( I am not as close to my older son as I once was) but I hope he gets over whatever caused him not to stay in touch. {{HUGS}}
