Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

mtnestr- we really never know with the Navy. My son had some friends that graduated the same time and they were able to drive their cars to SD....who knows who they choose to do what and why and when? :)

aster, Wow! That was fast.....truly a "grad and go" situation! I know that my son starts SERE at the end of November.....he is hoping they'll let him drive. They haven't told him "no" yet. It would be nice to know as we are up in Iowa and really need to make plans if we have to get a vehicle this weekend! Further, if we do have to go down there, it might be nice to fly in time for the graduation.

Oops accidently deleted, Just want to to stop in and say hello it's been a while. I appreciate the go up of likeminded moms. What a blessing you have been to comfort, offer onsite, and encourage.Thank you!
My son graduated in September, has been working with his squadron, and volunteered to go to Bahrain where he will be heading sometime soon.

mtnestr - when my son graduated on a Friday, he flew out Saturday afternoon to SD, started SERE on Monday. My husband drove my son's car home and I drove our car home. That June I drove my son's car from Florida to San Diego. He keeps he car registered in FL as it is cheaper to register in FL. Congratulations!! :)

Our son graduates from A School on Friday. They haven't yet told him if he has to fly or if they'll let him drive to SD. I told him to get his vehicle ready to go since someone will have to drive it somewhere regardless of their decision....being Navy flexible. ;)

ASTER!!! I'm so glad to hear from you!!! I think back on how you were so kind to meet my daughter right before little miss was born (the little pic in the corner matches your flower!). She is now two years old and is doing well! And our paths cross again with our sons being in the same squadron!!! I have a ton of questions to ask you!!! PM me so that I can find out who your son is! Again, you come to my rescue! Is there anything better than Navy Sisters? I think not!!
Jodi- thanks for your kind words and thoughts! I can't believe this journey... on one hand it feels like it took forever, on the other... it feels like time flew by! And by the way... he took his boards, passed and should have the wing ceremony any day... He already has his patch with the wings on them! Wow.. that was fast!
Ridgegirl- I just came back from SD too- in August... but it feels like I just came back from there! BTW- had a very interesting flight back from SD...our plane suddenly landed...and I mean suddenly in Amarillo Texas-12 people taken off of the flight and six were arrested. We ended up on the nightly news... all I could do was reach for an extra xanax and hope that I would fall asleep after we took off from Texas back towards Chicago. Ughhhh..... scary and aggravating all at the same time.

mtnestr-San Diego is good during January, we went there last year the week after New Year's, stayed with our son and his girlfriend in Chula Vista. Did lots of day trips - lots to see and do there!
Jeanine - glad to hear he is doing well! They make such great friends throughout all of this! :)
Ridgegirl- great! lobster dinner-Yum! 1st class all of the way!
Jodi- Life is good, so happy that my son's dreams have come true and he enjoys what he does. Also - he has a great girlfriend :) how lucky can I get?
SMW729 - if you are able to go to any of his graduations in Pensacola - go and make a vacation out of it. Nice soft beaches - nice Navy Lodge - some good restaurants in Pensacola - my son enjoyed playing golf on their course and did some local volunteer work.

SMW729 welcome to the group. You will find good information in the discussion forums above, especially The Path of a Rescue Swimmer. If you have any questions there are a number of moms on here that will try to answer them for you.
Get ready for a fun ride. You will experience the highs and lows of your son's schooling but you both will get through it. We will be here to give you support and listen to your concerns if you need it so don't think you have to go it alone :) Good luck!
