For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Feminine Needs

I know this is premature but 16 year olds want to know everything NOW. My duaghter will join DEp in a month or so and is already worried about boot camp during her cycle. She is worried she won't get supplies or Navy issue won"t be like those at home (no kidding). Any suggestions to ease her concerns ~ I simply cannot stress over these things for a whole year!

ok here is a silly question< when out for the day ( exercise or training) they are able to take a "supply"with them? or are they given a bathroom break and have to round up a Pad ? lol ....wondering because my daughter leaves Tuesday and will start soon after! :(

I am not sure they get the "good stuff" at BC...my SR is in week 5 - I do know her girlfriend went through and with the extreme workouts some girls don't even get their period. Hopefully someone else can add to this.

My daughter was at MEPS and was told by physician ( 2 weeks ago) that she will be able to take birth control either injectable or oral that will supress her period completetly. Is this safe?

Yes, my daughter went on birth control while at bootcamp and it actually makes it easier for them. They don't have to worry about accidents, cramps, or supplies.

My daughter went on depo shot last year and started her time directly after and had her period nonstop for 5 WEEKS! I guess it just depends on the person...

That's horrible!!! Was she in bootcamp during that?? Poor girl!! We do know different birth control works for some but not for others!! Hope she found something better!!!!

No she wasn't. She is in bootcamp right now, than God. But another thing, when she got off the shot (a few months ago) she had it again for two months! It was horrible! She's on the pill now and is doing just fine! She decided to go off shot because she would have needed a shot during bootcamp and that wouldn't have happened.
