For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Norfolk Apartments

My daughter is looking to move possible to a different apartment complex in Norfolk, can anyone suggest one that would be safe for two girls and a baby to live. She lives right now at Merrimack-Landing, but there usually is no where to park and it is kind of noisy. Thanks

Bondale Apartments are nice. They are really quiet and about 3.5 miles from base.

Soccer Mom of 3,

My son, daughter in law, and 3 year old lived in an apartment not far from 64 and E Virginia Beach Blvd (58). I can't remember the name of the complex but it was off Newtown Road. They had a little common area back yard to play in and their own driveway. Just up the road, walking distance, was a kids playground.

During my son's first tour in Oceana they had another nice apartment but I will have to contact my DIL to find out the name of those places. Lots of military at both complexes.

My daughter lived in the apartments on chase point court in Virginia Beach...I went with her to look apt hunt and there were really beautiful...and across the street from excellent shopping.

I saw this discussion and it caught my eye because my daughter is now in Norfolk and just arrived last week. As far as staying overnight on the ship, well, she says most of the time no one stays and she doesn't want to be the only one there.

My husband and I drove to Norfolk over the Memorial Day weekend to take a car to her to facilitate her moving around if she needs to run an errand and now I am just wondering since she has a car, if an apartment would be better for her to stay and live in instead of the ship. What price range are the apartments in Norfolk area?

I live in Virginia beach not to far from the Norfolk base, if she wants to travel out a bit further the complex I am in is nice and they offer great military discounts.
