OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

The dreaded yeast infection
Ok moms of daughters, I feel this is the appropriate place to discuss this. My daughter is in week 3 of boot camp and wrote that she has gotten her first ever yeast infection. I'm sitting here wondering why on earth would she have gotten a yeast infection there! Is it something in the shot? Lack of enough time to shower? It can't be the heat or working out because we are from Florida and she is used to worse humidity and heat. Any thoughts??

I think all the above in addition to the 'stress' of adjusting. It is hot there and humid, marching and physical exercise and stress on the body. Plus, drying after a shower is very helpful. She might need to go the extra mile to changing panty shields frequently if she is using them, no baby powder though....

I am so sorry this happened to your daughter. I'm fairly certain part of the reason is that yes, they don't get much time to take a long hot shower. Also, the living together with a bunch of other girls, shared facilities - toilets, bathrooms in general, etc.... I'm not sure how they do laundry these days but any one or a combination of all my contribute to that. Also, change in diet could be a factor if she no longer eats things that contribute to feminine health. Did medical give her any insight to the causes? Hope it clears up soon!!!!

Poor girl!! I'm sorry to hear this. Now I'm praying this doesn't happen to my daughter. I think being in sweaty clothes for too long of a time period is probably to blame. Yeast feeds on moisture so it makes sense if they are in the same sweaty clothes for too long of a time period. I also have read that nylon and synthetic fabrics hold moisture so depending on what the underwear is made of could present a problem. I hope she feels better quickly!! Keep us updated!

My daughter wrote in one of her letters that they have made them shower and then right after they beat them (which means: they made them do tons of push ups and jumping jacks) They have had to wear their heavy blue camo as well. My daughter also stated that it was very hot during that time. I hope that your daughter gets better soon and maybe the other girls will know what to do to prevent it now that one of them has had to face it.

I would venture to say it is probably due to a shot some kind of antibiotics that might have created it. Or the type of undergarments they're wearing are different than what she is used to.

I was trying to find out what is in the peanut butter shot and I read somewhere that there is penicillin in it but there was nowhere that said for certain. She's better now, thankfully!

Try not to worry too much. Could be just the change in everything she has been used to. New underwear, water, food, environment and maybe a sensitive body. Praying that she will be more comfortable soon. I am glad you got to hear from her.

Thank you :) she told me that the doctor gave her a medication that started to help and by the next day she was feeling better!

My daughter got one as well, she also thinks they did not get their clothes washed very well either, and that may have contributed to it too, she said the clothes especially their under garments always came back looking still dirty and those that had jobs doing the laundry said they could only use 1 laundry pod for a huge load of clothes and said it was very inadequate, so all their clothes were also washed together as well and that gave my daughter the creeps knowing that their underwear wasn't even being washed in very hot soapy water. She did get medication and her infection really started toward the end of BC so once she was at A school she went to the Dr there at the facility and they gave her medication and it cleared up.
